The post that will get me expelled from America

And I titled it that b/c free speech exists to an extent in this country, but once you disagree with "the president," you're all of a sudden a threat to national security, or submitted to the House Committee on Un-American Activities, or noted in COINTELPRO documents. I know this but hey, so did my predecessors. There are more "un-American" topics to come in later posts.

So Pennsylvania congressman Tim Murphy (R) was in the studio this morning talking about the war in Iraq and his visit to the troops. On this visit to Iraq, he was in a car accident (armored bus accident) so of course everyone wants to talk to him. Everyone's like, great interview, nice guy, blah blah blah. And not even in his face. I did not like this dude. Mostly because he had the nerve to say: at one point, 90% of America was behind the war in Iraq.

First beef: that's some bull SHIT. Who was interviewed? All Republicans? And second beef: why were they behind it? Because of so-called weapons of mass destruction? Its easy to get people behind you when you lie about things. I'm sayin I can convince the entire world to believe me. I can. I just have that ability. But I just don't have the desire to flat out lie to get it. I'd rather keep my integrity. I want to know who you polled. Third beef: if you're gonna give "at one point" statistics, you need to now give the "at this point" statistic. I want to know the number now. Let's get full disclosure. And stop acting like you care what it is and it matters. It will have no bearing on how soon we get out of Iraq unless it means people are getting booted out of office. If this country had managed to get every person out of office that was in favor of the war in Iraq, I can almost guarantee we would have a lot more talk of getting out asap. But he starts talking about the morale is high over there and the soldiers don't want their fight to be in vain. Yeah. I'm sure. Neither do the 2100 soldiers who have died and the countless others who have been injured, permanently maimed. Only God and the military know that number. One of the best programs I have ever seen on MTV was "True Life: I served in Iraq." I loved it mostly because it wasn't one-sided. While I obviously oppose this war, I do not like people telling me how they feel about it when they are supposed to be informing me (i.e. the far left CNN and far right Fox News). It showed the injured, the people with severe PTSD, and the people who were proud to have "served their country." Right now, my sister's prom date is in Iraq (I think), I know its somewhere in the desert. My uncle went to Vietnam. My grandfather served two tours in France in World War II. All of these black men fighting for a country that continually tries to marginalize their contributions to society outside the realms of sex, entertainment and athletics. Something about that is not right. A lot about that is not right. Nothing about that is right.

There have been reports that Iraq is not ready for us to leave. That it needs us to help keep the terrorists from taking over. How long will that word be used to hold the American people in fear? How long will it be dangled over our head that thousands of Americans died in an attack on our soil? How long will we do this? So one AP article reported that Iraqi officials say they will be ready for us to leave by the end of next year at the latest. Right. I'm so sure. That is pure unadulterated nonsense. It disturbs me to no avail that no one wants to come up with a comprehensive plan for withdrawal. People have talked about one, but where is the plan? Even supporters of the war must realize that we should not have even embarked on a war without a plan for withdrawal. That is ridiculous. You cannot rely on arbitrary means when lives are at stake. Potentially millions of lives. I don't think that's too much to ask.

Speaking of the "associated press," they had this article about PA joining other states in a tribute to Rosa Parks on the "first forward facing seat behind the driver." What? That means nothing in modern contexts. So I had to let them know (at the station) that the way that's worded was confusing for the listener and not exactly accurate. The bus was full, she was in the colored section, and she didn't want to give up her seat. The story wasn't run again. Ain't that some bullshat. I will have more on those issues in a later post.

In other news, two Wendy's employees robbed their employer. One of them was named Ronald MacDonald. I'm not kidding. 22 years old and that's his given name. I said, "Why would his parents name him that?" Do you know two people said, "That's not an uncommon name. I know lots of people named Ron McDonald." I said, "You're lying." They were serious. Ok. Only to white people over 40 would think that's a normal name. First of all, I've never even met anyone named Ronald. Second, his parents knew what they were doing. McDs is more than 50 years old. Its been around their whole lives. They were being assholes. Know what a normal name is to me? Keisha. Tonya. Sheena. Tameka. Jameil (that ain't normal, but it's beautiful). Lashawn. These are normal to me. So whatever. Rant completed.

The waterfront at the illustrious Hampton University

C'est moi

Ok so that's me. I don't have the patience right now to figure out how to put that in the corner so oh well. That was the day before graduation on the waterfront w/my dad. From how much I talk about him, you would almost think I didn't have a mother. FYI I do and she's great!

I took an Online Journalism class at HU and learned all about HTML. Too bad that was jr. year and I haven't used any of it yet since the class. So... I have yet to re-figure all this ish out. Who knows. Maybe it will be weeks until I have the time, ok patience, to figure it out.

Ok so its update time. WAMO (wack radio station here) still plays Cassidy's "Hotel" all the time (more than once a week- too much for a song that came out in 2003!!!!). The high temp today was 63. What kinda ish is that. It was 13 four days ago. Make up your mind!! Pick one. Preferrably something in the middle. I mean it is December. Hahahahahahaha. William on Girlfriends just said, "Awww. I'm yo restaurant baby daddy." Oh the hilarity.

Panthers beat the Bills to improve to 8-3. Good shit. I can get with that. Duke beat Memphis in the NIT tournament. More good shit. I can get with that, too. Hampton lost in the first round of the DI-AA football tournament. That's ok. They still were undefeated in the regular season and had a hell of a season. I'm proud to call it my alma mater.

"Oh Hampton a thought sent from heaven above to be a great soul's inspiration. We send thee the earnest of broad human love. The shrine of our heart's adoration. Still wearing our colors the BLUE and the WHITE as pledge that our fond hearts will cherish and go with brave hearts upon our chosen ways of service to God and our nation. Oh Hampton we never can make thee a song except as our lives do the singing. In service that will, thy great spirit prolong. And send it through centuries ringing." That has to be one of my favorite songs (I paraphrased it). Beautiful.

Ok so I still love all my shows. I have a book review/Black life synopsis forthcoming after my orientation for the Urban League Young Professionals of Pittsburgh. We'll see if they are actually about something or something to add to my synopsis as a reason Black people will get nowhere. Yeah I said nowhere.

So me and my best friend are going to see the Color Purple. This time next week I will be in Connecticut. Who's excited?! It's me!!! I'm tooooooo excited! I get to see my b.f., Chantee, Ashli and the Color Purple all in the span of three days. I can't wait!!!! And I bought this ridiculously fly dress and shoes. I can't stand myself for that. Damn me for being so fly. I would post a pic of the dress but I want it to be a surprise.

UNC still sucks. I still need more exposure to decent music. Pittsburgh's music "taste" is so suspect. I'm just sayin. All I need is some club music, some r&B, and some dirty south. Is that so much to ask??? And I'm currently in grave danger of catchin office ebola. I feel it coming. These people are determined to make me sick... literally. I think that's about it. Rambling complete. Over and out.

I love Isaac Mizrahi!!

So yesterday I wandered downstairs after getting all worked up from reading this book. I'm like, I need to calm down, I wonder what's on Style Network. So I turn it on and what do I see? The Issac Mizhrahi "sneak peak" of his show. So even though the commercials kind of annoyed me, I decided to look at the show anyway.

OMG! This has to be one of the funniest shows known to man. So you already know I'm a little fashion obsessed, and a borderline fashion junkie, but I mean this show is beyond my imagination. Stace asked me what it was a mix of. I said Fashion Police meets the Tyra Banks show. Quirky to the point where you wonder if you're sane for watching it, but too hilarious to turn.

Some lady (holistic nutritionist type) tells him to try some Amazon berry. He says, "Ugh! This is so good. It's like blueberry and chocolate had a child." What??? Lolol. But what was my favorite quote from the show? "You have about a week to wear those." Lolol. He told two people the trend they were wearing was on its way out. Hahahaha. And they both looked mortified. (More raucous laughter). In case you were wondering, one was the striped jean look (ok I already think that's over if too extreme), and the low rise jean (I knew it! Its become too 12-year-old slut/Britney Spears to last much longer). And the black lady from Law & Order: SVU was on there. At the end of the interview, he said "Don't you love her? Clap for her! (clap, clap).... Clap for her again!" Comedy.

Have you seen his line at Target (pronounced <>)? Mostly fabulous. Anyway his show is f-in fabulous and hilarious. So hilarious its borderline annoying. I don't want to miss a second. December 5th at 7 and 11. Too bad I won't get to see it b/c I'll be with the best friend and I know he won't want to watch it. Ah well. C'est la vie. I'll catch in on rerun.

I have come to the full conclusion that style is what I make it. Of course I already knew that b/c of my fabulous friend Morgan who is easily one of the coolest people I know when it comes to fashion. And also because I know things are great or wack and then I read it in a zine and I'm like, duh how long have I been saying this already? So I'm saying. When will someone hire me as their stylist already? I'll do it for the low, low price of $1000/wk per person. I do family discounts for 3 or more people. Get your rate in now, these deals won't last for long.

Anyway God bless Isaac, and God bless Style.

What ever happened to....

Kentucky? I promised my favorite UK basketball fan that I would dedicate at least a portion of a post to Iowa for snatching the hopes and dreams of this team!! Hahahaha. I just would love to see Duke smack Kentucky so he'll shut up once and for all. But until such time, thanks to Iowa for handing Kentucky a loss on Monday. I really enjoyed it.

Maxwell?? Now another blogger brought this to my attention. Where is he??? What is he doing?? He's like the female Erykah Badu but we can't see his handiwork. We see what Erykah did to Common and Lord help him, Andre 3000. Them po' thangs. But I bet there are some CRAZY women somewhere because of Maxwell. Maybe that's why he's MIA. Because he's caught up w/some crazy woman. Or maybe he's a Buddhist monk. Or maybe he's been abducted by aliens and converted them to a new religion called Maxwellian. I think those are all possibilities. Wherever he is, come back!! We miss you!! What is our generation supposed to make the next generation to? Nelly? Tony Yayo? Fantasia? Teirra Marie? Dare I say it? Ashanti? I think not. Give us us free!

the Eagles season?? I mean we knew it was over when they finally got rid of T.O. I know I said I wasn't gonna talk about them no more, but I can't help it! Its inescapable! But can the Eagles get anymore nails in their coffin? Please??? Please?? Pretty please with a cherry on top?? I know that's wrong. But it just makes the train wreck that is their season more fun to watch. Now Lito Sheppard AND Donovan McNabb are out for the season! Wow. Wow. What more can I say????

Sinbad? I'm real obsessed with A Different World right now. I think I'm going to buy the DVD on Friday. That way I don't have to wait for it to come on tv. I'm so into the whole Dwayne/Whitley saga. I love it!! The sexual tension is off the chain. I love Sinbad. He cracks me up. Where he at?

the first amendment? My mama's trying to steal my freedom of speech!! She told me I cuss too much and I shouldn't say nigga in MY blog!! So there you go mom. Does this make you happy?

FALL?!?!? This is perhaps my biggest peeve right now. How dare you??? How dare you!! It is currently 28 degrees and snowing. It will continue to snow until Saturday. Umm... so yeah. I've never had a white Thanksgiving and I really didn't plan on starting this year. I'm probably way more excited by snow than the average person, but come on. Not yet!!! I'm whining right now. I really don't want this! Its not fair! Make it stop! Please!!! I can't take it!! Highs below freezing until Sunday. Nooooooooooooo!! F this. I'm going to sleep. Wake me up when the snow stops.

Never Satisfied!

Roll over the title and read this article first.

So basically some little girl wasn't doing her homework and her momma said, "I'll get you my pretty." And now people are mad. Some "child psychologist" who probably has no children said you're ruining her for life. Really?

I see. So when you see little Black baby gangsters and bad children running all over creation causing problems, then its the parents fault. And not only is it the parents fault, but its something in those pesky negroes that makes them stupid, criminals, and teen baby machines. But when parents do something to counteract that, then they are abusing their child. Get outta here!! Never satisfied. You know that was a white person who called the cops. Who does that? Come on. Many Black people still subscribe to the it takes a village to raise a child mentality. That includes the village gettin in your business and shaming your child into proper behavior if necessary.

If you let your kids get away with everything, guess what? They turn into mass murderers! See Ted Bundy, the Columbine kids, etc. My main one is the Columbine kids. Those little bad seeds were making bombs and hording guns in their parents' houses. Nice. Love it when that happens. So when you do something to counteract your child working at McDonald's for the rest of your life, particularly when you've worked to attain your own middle class existence, then you're an awful parent. Got it. Its a lot clearer now. Thanks for helping me work this out.

She held a sign on the highway. And not alone. Her mother was with her to enforce the idea. To help her know that while, yes, you will pay for your bad grades, but also I will still love you. And the love is why I'm going to help you. Ugh.

How ya like me now?

So the illustrious Hampton University is on the top, again. It is quite hard continually striving for perfection. And somehow the Pirates football team has done it. An undefeated season. 11-o after a crushing defeat of Savannah State, a score of 44-3. So, I'm gonna need my ESPN contact, you know who you are, to get up on that HU shout-out. And I need to know when we'll be playing on t.v. again. Also a shout-out to the volleyball team. Freshman Morgan Williams for capturing MEAC Rookie of the Year and the indomitable Chavanca Hoskins for making the MEAC First Team. Get it girls!

Also, I will be going to New York for the first time. I know. How much sense does it make to have been to Europe, but not NY or Cali? Ah well. I'm getting one of those out of the way. And honestly, I'll probably go to Europe again before I go to Cali. But anyway. Yes, I'm going to Connecticut the first week in December. I know Chinagirl and CC better be coming to get me from the airport or there will be problems!!! No excuses!! Lol. One of the highlights of my trip will be seeing "The Color Purple" on Broadway. All I'm saying is they better not leave out, "Sophia, Sophia!" or more importantly, "You tole Hah-po ta beat me" and "You showl is uuugly." Did I forget anything? Oh yeah and them two crow fingers-- "Until you do right by me..." I can't wait to see Lou Myers (also known as A Different World's Mister Gaines). Ah yeah. Try and see me. I'm just sayin. Try. Whatever shall I wear????

I think I'm too cool for Pittsburgh. I know that sounds vain, but I'm sayin. If you're a big city type person, then it ain't really the place for you. And I am. I mean come on, my favorite city is D.C., with Baltimore as #2. And part of the reason I like B-more is b/c its close to D.C. I like Atlanta okay, but I wouldn't want to live there. Close your mouth Simon. Hahaha. But my point is that Pittsburgh just isn't a foward-thinking city. There's not much for a young Black professional to do. So I think it'll be a struggle to stay here for a year. But I have to b/c there's no way I'm not putting this job on my resume. Plus winter is a BEAST. What fresh hell is the reason for there to be a high of 29 in November?????? What is that about? That's not cool. Last night at dinner, my dad was saying something about sub-zero temps and single digit temps. Its hard for me to even wrap my mind around that concept. Its just strange. But I've been inspired to increase my sweater/coat/boot wardrobe which is always a beautiful thing.

And can we talk about how in my last post I call myself givin the b.f. a shout-out for being my "diary that talks back" and do you know this nigga had the nerve to be unappreciative??? Talkin bout I'm not an inanimate object. See how black people do you? I can't even give a compliment without people acting up. No more compliments!!! Lol.

And some of y'all are seriously slackin on your blog pimp game. Step it up son. If you haven't posted since November was in the single digits, stop reading this and go post. Clearly I need something to do.

Too Much T.V.

The first part of this I want to dedicate to my b.f.f. (best friend forever). I was watchin one of my favorite shows the other day, "Made," and this girl Alyssa said her friend Matt is "like my freakin diary that talks back." How cute is that? That's my friend Kyle. Thanks Kyle! :)

So last night I'm watching "In Living Color." It was hilarious of course. Ya girl J-Lo was on there. So I got to wondering. She's probably not the most impressive Flyy Girl ever, but she's certainly the most successful. How did she get from Flyy Girl to Fashionista/million-dollar actress/mediocre singer/designer/perfume pusher? Glow is off the chain. (Paris Hilton's "fragrance" smells like ass- eau de toilette, no eau de w.c. (true term for bathroom water)). Anyway. How jealous do you think her fellow fly girls are? And do you think anyone believes them when they say "I used to work w/J-Lo." Do you think they're friends?

Think Pink, y'all. On ESPN the other day, there was a story about the Iowa locker room. Its pink. With green lockers. How hilarious is that? I was dyin! Then all these people get up there and talk about how that's anti-women because they're implying that women are weak. That was from the women. Then a representative of a gay/lesbian org gets up there and says that's offensive b/c the worst thing you can call an athlete is a sissy and that's what pink represents. Holy shit people. You have violence against women, female genital mutilation, gay marriage, wrongful death on multiple levels to both groups. Need I go on? And you're pissed about a pink locker room. Please pick your fights. Just like Black people. Do you know what the athletes and coaches from other teams said? Things like: Its funny; Good move trying to psyche out the opponent; Its a distraction tactic and it obviously works b/c we're talking about it. Basically... nobody else cares!

AHHHHHHHH! This Sprint commercial where the two white dudes downloaded DMX "Where the Hood At" (almost offensive), then they remix it to sound like "Kamma, kamma, kamma, kamma, kamma, chameleooooooon." Hahahahaha. Hilarious.

So my girl Stacey von Kutieboots (don't ask) asked me to post about this:

"Jameil, when am igoing to stop messing with these 160lb and below niggas?!?! If you are not AT LEAST 5'9", you need a sign on your forehead that says, "Stacey, stay away from me, I will not know how to act b/c NapoleonBonaparte is my great-great-great grand-uncle and I inherited his complex."

Lololololol. Basically if you are skinny, fat, short or otherwise something that is not portrayed as sexy on television on a daily basis, SHUT UP! The least sexy man is the one that does not think he's sexy. I'm saying, work with what you've got. Come on. What dude wants to continually say to a girl, "No you don't look fat... yes I'm sure... no... really... you don't look fat...you look beautiful... really... no really... SHUT UP YOU DON'T LOOK FAT!!" Nobody. So I don't want your attitude because you're small.

While I'm on the subject, let's go ahead and talk about pretty boys, because the dude she's talking about also has this affliction. I don't want a dude that spends more time in the mirror than I do. This dude Damone Roberts on the show "10 Years Younger" DEFINITELY spends more time in the mirror. Granted, he's gay, but are pretty boys that far? This man is damn near beautiful, his face anyway. But it should be b/c he's a make-up artist. Speaking of which, there's a phenomenal make-up artist in Charlotte named Patrick. Oh my damn! He is off the chain. He does drag, too. Damn I wish I could remember his drag name. Its a mix of two supermodel names. Beverly Iman!! Love it! Patrick's the greatest. Anyway, I obviously don't want you to go out of the house half-steppin, but that's a far cry from bein a pretty boy. I'm sorry for wanting my man to look like one- a man that is.

Oh yeah and this dude had issues w/my previous post "Get on my Level." I'm just sayin tho, if you need help understanding how you should look when you leave the house, go to Hampton. Just for a big weekend or party. I'm talkin a cabaret or homecoming party. Can I just give props to all the dudes that went all out for soiree???? DAMN! Made me proud to be a black woman so I could call you my own. Thank you!! This is how you're supposed to leave the house! Special shout-out to Texas! Whooo- Timon and Pumba and Chris... NICE! Lovin it.

Okay y'all are distractin me. I'm tryin to watch America's Next Top Model. And Made's coming on tonight. I think. I love Bree! Go Bree!

It's all about me, me, me....

Somebody told me once that should be my theme song. Probably because I know what I like and I don't mind telling people. And I've always been like that. I'm listening to Mimi's re-released album on AOL. This song "Mine Again?" Off the chain. I can get w/MC. I'm glad she's back the way we like her. I've been a Mimi fan from the jump, but I had to distance myself from her when she got a little too crazy for me. She's definitely still crazy, but now she's makin crazy good music again, too. That's all I care about.

Jesse Jackson. Such an Aggie. We can tell you went to A&T. I couldn't resist sayin that. Jesse. How the HELL am I supposed to ever be able to take you seriously? Come on! You did not get up on ESPN and every other station talking about how wronged TO is. Stop. That nigga did that to himself and you know it. How many times can you warn someone that there are consequences for their actions? Whatever. I think I'm gonna stop givin this dude any more blog time. But I can't escape him. Damn that Terrell.

Panthers on a 6 game win streak, Duke won last night, Carolina is not ranked, Kentucky is #10 (I would have no beef w/this team if my best friend hadn't suddenly decided this was his favorite team. Now I have to hate), Hampton is now 10-0, saw fellow Hampton alum Devin Green suited up for the Lakers on ESPN this morning. All in all, my sports life is good.

My dad brought home Chinese food for lunch today. I don't like Asian cuisine. I can eat Chinese food like 3 or 4 times a year. That's it. I think this made twice for this year. So I won't even hit my quota this year.

Watchin Tyra right now. She is such a hood rat. But its kinda funny. I saw Rev. Run's house last night. That show cracks me UP! Hahahaha. I'm sayin tho, go watch it. Hahahaha. Anyway, they're talkin about sex on Tyra right now. All these people are talking about how they fake it all the time. You have got to be kidding me. That's crap. Have y'all ever seen this old lady Sue Johanssen- the 90-year-old white lady that gives everybody sex advice? That's nasty. I don't need to hear that from her. Why did a nameless 50-year-old woman ask me what spooning was about a week ago? So I told her you know how two spoons lie in a drawer right? She said, "Um... so like 69?" Yuck. I do not want to know that about you! You're someone's mom! I said, "No. Nothing like 69! Its cuddling!" I can't go into the rest of the convo, but basically she was like, "I thought you were grown." I had to say, "Just so you know, I'll never be that grown!"

In Charlotte I was in a book club where I was the only person under the age of 40. It was very enlightening. Although my aunt was in it and I learned some things about her that I will unfortunately never be able to forget. But it was a great experience. Especially since there were some white people in the book club, too and I just don't really have/take the opportunity to sit down and talk to middle-aged white women very often. But one of them turned out to be one of my favorite people. Shout out to Ann from GA.

I'm so mad at myself because I like "My Humps." My humps, my humps, my humps, my humps. My lovely lady lumps? No you didn't. I only like it because its the stupidest thing I've ever heard in my life. Hahaha. Nonsense. But the Black Eyed Peas are the worst. And after homecoming now I like "Laffy Taffy." Sue me. I'm from the south. You know we like stuff b/c we can drop it like its hot to it. Can I tell you how the little Cuban was lamenting the other day because "good booty music is a lost art." Hahahahaha. No you didn't. Hahahaha. A lost art? I mean I know you from Florida and all, but come on. She's probably right. Because when was the last time you heard something like "Don't stop pop that -- let me see you Doodoo Brown!!" or "Round and round we go... let me hear say scruuuuuuuub the ground!" Yeah! Man I miss the south. I'm listenin to Pitbull's cd now- the mix of reggaeton and crunk is great. I love Bmore club too. Probably for the same reason. Poppin potentional. Lol. That's a funny phrase. (Uh-uh Tyra. She just dropped it. Why did they give her a show?) Anyway, he has this song called "M.I. still A.M.I." (money is still a major issue) that I can get wit. Yayuh! Culo! Why is there nowhere here I can go shake-it-don't-break-it-took-my-mama-nine-months-to-make-it and not get shot?

I got my ticket for Talib Kweli in the mail today. $10 concert at Carnegie Mellon. But who is J-Live? Random ass opening acts. But I'm sayin tho. Why couldn't I ever get a $10 concert at HU? I mean one that I wanted to see. They tried to extort like $25 out of people this year at homecoming for a concert w/two acts: Ruben Studdard and Lil Scrappy. Whoa. I'm really not payin to see either one of them, let alone together. Whose bright idea was that? I wanna know b/c I'm bout to go sell them on the street.

I know I'm ramblin but I'm real bored right now. I realized, thanks to the little Cuban from the county of Palm, that I probably need to work like every day because otherwise I just get bored and don't do anything. Maybe I'll start one of those lists that everybody does that I hate. That should entertain me. Ok. 100 things about me..... I couldn't do it. I started it and erased it. Nobody wants to know all that. If you do, then get at me. Ask me questions. I'm not just givin up all that info. I'm not a hooker.

Happy Birthday

83 years ago, seven educators had the audacity to form a union in what was commonly known as "Klan-diana." Mary Lou Allison Gardner Little, Dorothy Hanley Whiteside, Hattie Mae Annette Dulin Redford, Vivian White Marbury, Bessie Downey Rhoades Martin, Nannie Mae Gahn Johnson, and Cubena McClure stepped outside of the status quo to strive toward scholarship, sisterhood and service. Together they formed what is now known as Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.

In honor of their sacrifice and bravery, today I rededicate myself to using the best that is within me to further its cause. Too often we as a people "arrive" and try to put who we are behind us. We have come so far, but have further still to go. We cannot afford to be complacent if we intend to move ahead. And I sure as hell have no intentions of staying where I am.

When I first moved to Pittsburgh, the most difficult thing for me to grasp was the fact that the National Pan Hellenic Council, which supposedly encompasses our best and brightest, is nearly non-existent. And not from a lack of people, but from a lack of purpose. Through my search for area young Black professionals I perused the internet and stumbled upon the Urban League. Their site directed me to the Urban League Young Professionals of Pittsburgh. Excellent. Just what I'm looking for. Then it took no less than 3 weeks to get a response, and even then it was half-hearted. So let me get this straight. You want me to give you local dues of $50 to do what? And you can't tell me about what your organization is doing right now? I really can't do that. And I didn't even consider the NAACP. Why would I? They're not doing anything in any other city. Why are we letting the organization that have gotten us this far die?

Its time out for just accepting what is thrown at us. Its time to make a difference. I'm challenging everyone reading this to step up. While the rest of the world is moving ahead, we are falling far behind. America in general, Black people in specific. Right now I'm reading "Blood Done Sign My Name" by Timothy B. Tyson. Its an autobiographical account of the event that changed a white man's life. One day when he was ten-years-old, his friend said, "Daddy and Roger shot 'em a nigger." This book goes on to recount events that happened to Black people as a result of their refusal to leave things up to chance. I'm maybe 1/4 of the way through this book and its already re-awakened my fervor and activism for my people. It wasn't gone, it's just hard to act on when you see so much that needs to be done.

I have a lot of extremely lofty goals. I always have. I know that I am destined to succeed. Its inevitable. I want to bring people up with me. Its frustrating to see people struggling with no desire to change. I have two friends that are working in predominately Black schools. I had a real problem with the public school system in America, its just remanifested itself within their collective experiences.

I was educated in a public school. However, because I grew up in a predominately white neighborhood, I never had the problem of having inexperienced teachers, subpar equipment and books, or general apathy in my school. These are the types of things that Black children encounter daily. I am diametrically opposed to private schools. First because they were created as a means to further segregation in this country at a time when it was already illegal. Second, because we pay taxes to provide free, quality educations to our children. So why should I pay for it?

Like I was saying, my line sister teaches in Guilford County (NC) Schools. This is the same school system that socially promoted Fantasia to the point where today she is functionally illiterate. Those problems are still there today, and not just in Guilford County. The inegalitarian system that is in place now is unacceptable. And its predicated upon people being unwilling to demand a change. The current system, in every state, allows for "black" and "white" schools. And there is a marked difference in the two. That. Is. Wrong. When the Swann case was re-opened in Charlotte and several years ago, it made neighborhood schools acceptable again. Nearly every neighborhood in America is segregated. Turning over this case essentially reinstituted segregated schools.

My other friend teaches in Baltimore. I know. Rough. And that's a problem. You shouldn't hear Baltimore public schools and think, "Wow, your friend is real reckless with her life." But you do. She is a junior English teacher with many kids that are 18 and 19-years-old, have at least one child, and most importantly cannot read. The vast majority of these children (they seemed SO young when I went there) have no intention of ever going to college. What are we doing to our community?

That is why its time for us to step up. We consider ourselves the black elite, the best and brightest, the "Talented Tenth" (I hate that elitist, divisive term), or whatever else you need to call yourself for motivation. To whom much is given, much is required. So ante up. Whatever your talent and passion is, you need to use it to help your people. Get off your ass. I know this started out all positive and pretty, but I got worked up. Deal with it.

Get on My Level!!

To quote the sign over the HU football locker room, "Go hard or Go home." Do not try to holla at me when you know we are not on the same level. There are two primary keys to knowing if you are on the right level: attire and approach.

It is one thing when we are at the grocery store, or maybe a sports bar, your attire is possibly understandable. Any other venue? You need to step ya game up. If you see me and I have on jeans and a blazer and you have on a doo-rag, a white tee, and timbs, I'm not interested. Right now, you are not on my level. You're dressed like a college student. I'm trying to move past that. I know this sounds real stuck up so I will explain.

There are two guys at work who have made it extremely clear that they are interested. First, you've already turned me off because we're at work and you're trying to holla. One dude WINKS at me all the time. That shit is corny anyway, but its extra unacceptable at work!! Stop! You have to be so fine, like Denzel/Blair Underwood fine to pull that off. And even then, you're treading on thin ice. I would suggest that if you attempt winking, you have the most air tight game known to man.

So the other dude always gives me these bedroom eyes and is like "Come here" while he's sitting down. Whoa. Stop the madness. I know you didn't just tell me to come here and expect me to be like, "Ok big daddy!" I am not a chicken head so you're not coming correct. If you want to speak to me, you get up off your ASS and say hello. Pretend to be a gentleman. I really hate that I'm having to say this.

Both of them have already messed up on approach. There's more. Clothing. We work in a news station ok. A news station. Granted, I've already talked about how people who aren't on air do not dress up. And some of the "talent" could use a refresher course. However, that does not mean I want to see you in your Rocawear sweatsuit, timbs, white tees, hats with matching jerseys and shoes, and DOO RAGS. Yes, y'all they have the nerve, the audacity, and unmitigated GALL to wear doo rags to work!! Ok. I won't say they. Its just Winky. But still! You will not. The first day I did a double take. Then I said, maybe its just because its the weekend. People on the skeleton crew tend to look even worse than they do during the week. But I've now seen him no less than two other times with this unacceptable head gear.

The main reason why the attire pisses me off is because you know how they look at us already. You see how other people are dressing. When we dress like that, they try to lump us. We are already shown disproportionately as criminals.

(Altho I've noticed that the majority of the people that commit crimes against their own children are white. Why do they love killing their own kids, i.e. Shannon Smith, Andrea Yates, I'm sure you can add some more? Today I wrote a story about a woman who is appealing her life sentence for starving her four-year-old daughter to death. She claims she didn't know the child was sick. The child weighed 11 lbs. when she was found in a cooler that was put out for trash.)

I'm not saying that its right that white people look at us as criminals, but I am saying that you don't have to play into that by dressing like the very people shown daily on each and every television.

But probably my biggest beef? The fact that they are both from the Pittsburgh area. A little background. Pittsburgh has a ridiculous amount of people that do not leave. These are people that grow up here, go to school here, and work here for the rest of their lives. People outside of this set are an anomaly. I can't even begin to tell you how many people have said, "You're not from here? So what are you doing here?" Um... people don't move here? Apparently, no. This city is de-populating. You know why? Because this city is going through some bad, bad things.

[I could get into that, but you really don't care. Working at the station gives me more information than I could ever want to know about just about anything. I read the AP wires INCESSANTLY- please don't let me get bored. I read almost every news wire daily (usually I leave out the country/pop/rock round ups and the non-Pittsburgh sports other than basketball and football)].

That being said, why would you stay here if you have no intention of improving the city? I don't know. Throne man went to Norfolk State (another reason you're not on my level. ;P a little Hampton Roads humor) and came back. So you've gone to another area, seen what there is out there, and you're still coming back to Pittsburgh? *BANNNNT* (that was a buzzer) Wrong. You will not. That's not cute. If Pittsburgh is your kind of city, then you're not for me. I don't even know or care where Winky went. He told me. Its somewhere in this area. But I didn't care enough to remember. Darn.

Both of them also like going out in Pittsburgh. Probably why throne man liked NSU. NSU parties are nothing like Hampton parties. I love Hampton parties and could do without NSU parties. Mostly b/c I don't particularly enjoy seeing stripper outfits in the club. Pittsburgh parties are like NSU parties. Ghetto fab! No thanks. Why did buddy (Throne man) offer to take me to a "hood club." His words. Ok you know I went to Hampton. We've already established that Hampton is a rather stuck up/siddity/uppity place. So why would you think I would be down for that? I get with the hood music probably more than you. However... I don't want to go somewhere there's a likelihood that I will get shot. I'm sorry. I really don't think I should have to risk my life to have a good time. Call me crazy. Most of the Black-centered clubs here are like that. The clientele? Not on my level. I don't want to hang out with drug dealers and strippers. If that makes me stuck up... I'll be daaaaaaaaaat!

One more thing. Winky sleeps for the majority of his shift every weekend and everyone knows it. Why must you constantly give them a reason to discredit our contributions??? I was reading intently with my head down and this girl had the NERVE to come over to me and ask me "jokingly" if I was sleeping. Why? Because I'm black and you love to tell anyone who will listen that Winky sleeps all the time? I should smack the taste out of your mouth! Bitch.

My Life with D

You know that commercial with the lady looking through the window at the man doing all these crazy dances; then they pan down and you see his 6-year-old twirling around to some music video; and its about fatherhood? That's one of my favorite commercials.

Because it reminds me of my dad. I'm convinced that having a father that spends time with you is one of the most important things that you can have. So important that I've already started writing my book about it. I'm living with my dad (who I call "D") for the first time since I was 13. My father is not perfect. No one is. But I'm really having fun living with him. He makes me laugh.

We speak our limited French to each other. And I didn't even realize that we do it, which is hilarious. We were at his cousin's funeral in Baltimore a couple of years ago and I said, "Bonjour Papa, comment allez-vous?" He said, "Tres bien, merci, et tu?" I said, "Ah, c'est bon ca. Je vais bien. Merci beaucoup." And my (closet ghetto country) cousin interrupts to say, "Girl, what you talkin bout? You know you don't speak French." Oh that's right. That whole 3 years of straight As in French and tour of Europe thing was probably just me lyin. You know how we do. (I'm rollin my eyes right now). Anyway, when I spoke French to my mom (I used to answer all her questions in French) she would get annoyed, but D never did. That was our bond. Especially since no one else in the family can understand it.

He used to travel a lot for his job (like weeks and sometimes months at a time) when I was younger. So most of the time he only around sporadically, even though my parents were together, except the 6 weeks of vacation in the summer. I swear that was the most fun! My dad makes the best breakfast. And he would play with me and my sister. He was like our toy. He would let us braid his inch of hair and act like he was asleep, paint our toenails, take us to dinner, teach us how to fix the car, watch whatever we wanted with us. And since me and D are both night owls, when my parents got divorced, we would stay up all night talking- til like 3 in the morning when I went to his house. And then he would wake me up at like 8 to go running.

Ok let's talk about how before my sophomore year at Hampton, I did not run unless I was being chased. And even then, I knew you could catch me so I would just stop and say quit it, you play too much. Lol. Sophomore year I started running a lot but you could probably still catch me. Anyway. I say all that to say, nah dog, I don't run and you had me up until 3 or 4 in the a.m. Leave me alone. So then he would go by himself, come back and ask me if I want breakfast. YES! Of course. I always want breakfast. Its my favorite meal. You know this. But in like 2 hours. Go away! I am not a morning person. Hence the term "night owl." Please, D, work with me!

My dad's thing is to annoy the shit out of you until you crack. He'll find the one or eight things that piss you off and bring them up all the time. Now that I've gotten that, I understand that, and it makes it a lot easier to get along with him. I just let it roll off my back. And I really think its made me a stronger person. But it used to drive me crazy!! Right now, his favorite thing is to tell me what a good manager I'll make because I'm so hard on people and mean (not completely true, I'm just a realist). I say, "Thanks, Dad! That's exactly what I'm going for!" He just looks at me incredulous and laughs. Its great.

One of the funniest things about my dad? He has NO rhythm and can't dance, but he will do it all the time. It cracks me up! And I mean no rhythm. Tonight he took me to dinner. On the way back we're listening to my Trey Songz cd (love it, go buy it) and he starts clapping. He says, "Hey! I'm on the beat." I said, "Uh-oh! Look at you!" He's usually on the off beat-- beat (clap), beat (clap). Hilarious. So then he says, "Yeah, but it feels weird." Hahahaha. I don't ever want rhythm to feel weird to you. That's classic.

But seriously, if you're a man and you have a daughter now, or you ever have one, listen up. You have to do stuff with them. This goes for all children, but I'm convinced that all strippers and promiscuous women are that way because their daddy didn't pay them any attention. So now they will spend the rest of their lives trying to get some man to pay attention, and most of all to stay around.

When I first graduated from HU, my dad asked me to move up here with him. I was like oh hell no! It's collllllld in Pittsburgh. I can't do that! But then I spent a year in Charlotte feeling stagnated, and four months ago Monday, I finally gave in. And I'm glad I did. I love living with my dad. Its fun. Yes he gets on my nerves, but for the most part, he's a sweet person. Which is a funny thing to say about your dad. But I feel like now for the first time I'm really getting to know him. And I like it.

I have a tendency to be hard on people. I can't help it. But I'm working on it. The other day I was taking a nap and I had a dream he died. I woke up hysterical. So now I'm trying hard to let the people in my life know they're not allowed to die. Lol. I've been telling my mom this for years, but I told my dad for the first time this week. I think he liked it. He laughed anyway. Why does it take a dream to wake you up?

Ya Boy

Can you hear it? The HEAVY back pedaling from T.O. and his agent. OFF THE CHAIN!! ESPN's Eric Allen calls it the sound of dollars going down the drain. I am currently watching the Terrell Owens news conference. Are you serious? "He wants to play for the Eagles immediately. He wants to be at practice tomorrow."

Ummm... do you really think that's going to happen? I thought his statement was extremely heartfelt. Nice apology to Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb. Blah, blah, blah. Too little too late. It does piss me off how hard certain people come down on him like he's a terrible person. I don't think he's a terrible person, but he needs to keep his mouth closed. You're being paid to play football. That's it. If you have something to say, you need to learn how to say it.

"He will be a better person for it." --Drew Rosenhaus, Owens' agent.
I bet he will! For at least 5 minutes. Do you really think that your nice little statement today can erase all the times you have jawed off in the past? It can't. That is off the chain. On multiple occasions, you've felt the need to publicly criticize your QUARTERBACK, your coach, the team, the whole Eagles organization. The Eagles would be absolutely asinine to take you back.

Yes, he's talented. That's a given. But he is too much of a distraction. From training camp on, he's been showing his ass. You cannot expect anyone to take that but for so long, regardless of what he's doing on the field. He's become the Dennis Rodman of the NFL. Outrageous antics off the field will always eventually overshadow anything you accomplish. He will play again. But, unfortunately there is only one thing to say. Adios, T.O. We will see you in uniform, but not with the Eagles.

And this just in, the Eagles have confirmed that in a statement to ESPN. So there.

In other sports news, peace out Patriots!! Hahaha. I hate this team. Truly. Partially because they're so loved and I'm the underdog queen. More than that, I hate Adam Vinaterri!!!!! Without him, the Panthers would be Super Bowl champs. Go Panthers!! Love the Panthers and how they're kickin ass and takin names. You know I'll be watchin on Sunday. If I can ever FIND a Panthers game on tv here in Steelers territory! They drive me crazy! Come on! I know you love your team, blah blah blah. But I'm sayin, tho. Who I gotta shoot to see the Panthers? I'll do it.

Hampton. Doin it REAL big. Real, real big. Like unnecessarily big. 9-0? Wow. Top 3 national rank? Mooooooooove the chains! I got an insider at ESPN lobbying to get them a shoutout. Stay tuned. And can anyone tell me how you can see ESPNU? I'm convinced you need digital cable, basic cable, On Demand, and two satellites to see it. Jerome Mathis, doin it big with the Houston Texans.

On the basketball end, belated congrats to Devin Green for getting signed to the Lakers. Show Kobe how we do it at HU. Lol. I expect to see him step up when he does get in, though. I'll never forget going to Carolina sophomore year and seeing our team beat the Heels, in person. Devin was amazing. A freshman who came in with no fear against the team of so many basketball greats. As a Carolina hater, let me just tell you how PHENOMENAL it felt to get a win in the Dean Dome. AHHHHH!!! Good times, good times.

So I know you're wonderin. Its obvious I'm from NC. How can I hate Carolina? Let me explain something that I've come to realize few people outside of North and South Carolina understand. If you are in the state of North Carolina, there is only one option for a team. You have to pick a college basketball team in basketball country.

You have Duke, Carolina, Wake, NC State, and Charlotte. All in the same state. Makes for a great season. I LOVE ACC basketball. But you MUST pick. And there is only one choice. Duke or Carolina. You can't like both. You can like any other teams, but when it comes to that rivalry, you have to pick. If you like Duke, or like me LOVE Duke, then you have no choice but to hate Carolina. And mean it. I'm in the ABC fan club. Anybody BUT Carolina. Nice. So, yes I am more than looking forward to the upcoming season. Ranked #1 in preseason polls. I'm so ready!!!! 82 I was born ready! Whooo!! Go Devils!!!

Bobcats. I'm watchin. Rookie of the Year Emeka Okafor, Sean May, Raymond Felton. I'm on it. Go Bobcats!! I wonder if I could ever see them on tv, either. And Pittsburgh ain't even got an NBA team. What's really good with that? But I found a sports bar that I'm in love with now and I think I'm bout to become a regular. Holllaaaaaaaaaaa.

So Forbes has released its list of 10 "Tastemakers in Music." These are people they feel have changed the way people think and feel about music. They were chosen based on earning potential and number of major awards. Clearly to me that already says flawed because we know who decides those, but here they are, in no particular order.

Eminem: make it stop. I really, really, REALLY don't like Eminem. The whole psycho thing? Take my daughter on a field trip with me to dump her mother's body, etc. etc.? Not cute. How the HEEZY did he make this list. Ok I know how based on the criteria, but ick. Otherwise, how has he made a contribution? By being the first white rapper to get a huge Black fan base and pretty much keep it? So what. Next.

The others: Yo Yo Ma, Bob Dylan, U2, White Stripes. Umm... whatever. But can you believe they left the great white hopes Elvis and the Beatles off???

Missy Elliot, Jay-Z, the Neptunes, Wynton Marsalis, Herbie Hancock. Agreed. Do it big then. However, I think they left some off based solely on contribution to music/changing the way people think and feel about music. I would add Grandmaster Flash, Ella Fitzgerald, Run DMC, Billie Holliday, Little Richard. Grrrreat! I think I could listen only to Ella Fitzgerald for the rest of my life. With a little 3-6 Mafia and UGK on the side. I gotta stay flyyyy. Lol.

Speaking of Run DMC, I need to know who watches "Rev. Run's House." That show is the greatest! If that ain't the craziest preacher I've ever seen, I don't know who his. Those kids, the wife? Pure comedy. The other night when the oldest daughter was spraying perfume on the dog, the other daughter gasps, "No animal testing!" I don't know why, but I fell out laughing. Hahaha. I love that show. And he played his daughters b/c they're too sheltered to know that an apartment in Manhattan is ridiculously overpriced. Watch that apartment hunting episode. Lolol. Good times, good times. But I can definitely do without the jacuzzi scene to close out every show. I'm cooool on that Rev. Run!

I wanna send Happy Birthday shouts go out to my boy Diddy. 36. Doin it up. Happy Belated (Nov 4). Keep ya head up, son. Your 3rd try at "Making the Band" won't bring Bad Boy back to the top, either. Lol. But I still love you though for giving me 112. Even though you made them leave you. Its all good. But can you ask them to stop with the "club bangers" because they really don't work for me. Stick to what you're good at. Thanks. Oh yeah, and that goes for you, too. Stop rapping.

Sticky Fingers

A Pittsburgh man is suing his ex-girlfriend for using super glue. He says she used fast-drying glue to glue his penis to his abdomen, and his butt cheeks together. Talk about revenge. So you're asking how did this happen? They had broken up. She lured him back just for that reason. When he fell asleep, she glued him up. He had to walk a mile to the gas station to get help. I don't care if you are a dude, that mess is hilarious! Lol. Come on. Who is that stupid? Hilarious!

In other news, why was Rosa Parks' funeral seven hours long? Because we needed ample time for all the egos to wear themselves out? That is ridiculous. If any of these people posturing for air time and photo ops actually knew anything about Rosa Parks, they would be aware of the fact that she hated the limelight. She had a foundation that helps children living below the poverty line. That foundation is in debt. While she was alive, she refused to use her name to secure funds for even that worthy cause.

So... do you think that she would want that and all the pomp and circumstance? The tour her body took of the U.S.? The Capitol building, Alabama, the Civil Rights Museum in Detroit, then Greater Grace Temple? The 18 mile processional through Detroit? No.

And in Sandusky, OH, there was a move to put a tribute to Ms. Parks on the wall of the bus. Some "do gooder" said it was wrong because the poster took up the back wall of the bus and that's where she didn't want to sit. Umm... because you can put a poster in the front of the bus? And a huge poster on the back wall isn't a focal point? That makes no sense. And if you do your research, you would know that the bus was full. She didn't want to stand. It had little to do with where in the bus she was sitting. Why do you have to take away the tribute because you're so busy trying to be politically correct? This is why Black people get on my nerves. Always fighting the wrong fight.

On a lighter note, I hate to even bring attention to this but its too funny not to. Mr. Britney Spears is coming out with a new album. Yes, a hip hop album. Let me introduce you to some of his rhyming skils. "Back then, they called me K-Fed, but you can call me Daddy instead." That's in a song called "Y'all Ain't Ready" on his new album "The Truth." Lololololol! Word K-Fed son? Yo I'ma cop dat when it drop b.

Oh yeah and I'm watching "Making the Band 3." I can't help myself. Diddy makes me laugh playin these girls. You should see his face when they sound like trash. Its hilarious! If you don't watch for any other reason, I beg you to watch just that. But I really want to talk about ya girl Lori Ann (the choreographer) with the huge praying hands on her shoulder. That is not cute. Get that outta here! Please!! If you ever want to wear an evening gown or a wedding dress without looking like a hood rat wearing her fake Louis logo prom dress, do not get shoulder or neck tattoos!!! (Monica) Can we pass this out to the black community?! And why did this girl on this show say all her dreams came true when she walked into the room and the Backstreet Boys were there?! See why I watch this? Oh the hilarity! Hahahahaha.

I present this challenge to you.
Yeah, you know its true.
Paul Wall.
Nonsense or drunk people don't crawl.

The next time you listen to a Paul Wall verse, listen.
He will say these four things.
He will NOT stray far from these topics or phrases.

"Its Paul Wall, baby."
"What it do"
"The disco ball in my mouth"
"My candy paint"

When will the madness stop? The only song he performed untrue to form on was "Grillz" by Nelly (ick) and that's only because they limited his topic to one that he's familiar with. So there was really no reason to talk about the disco ball in his mouth. And it forced him to come up with some new ways to describe his teeth. Creative. Can we stop putting him on songs yet?

Buffoon Entertainment Television

I know. I know. Such a cliche. An HBCU alumna that doesn't like BET. I'm just saying tho, why does BET have to be so ignorant some times? The things you allow to air! Ugh!!! Come on! I did cheer when I saw "Civil Rights Activist Rosa Parks has died at 92" or something to that effect. I cheered because I promptly flipped over to CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, CNBC, CBS, ABC, and NBC and all of them were at least 5 to 7 minutes behind. Finally, BET wasn't slackin on their pimpin. Although call me crazy, but I don't recall seeing a special on Mrs. Parks.

Why is it so rare for BET to follow important black news events? I saw the Katrina images from the news crew they sent down there. But why has the coverage stopped? According to BET's website, it is a multi-billion dollar media conglomerate. So it can more than afford to keep the coverage up when everyone else has stopped. It is obvious that this hurricane disproportionately affects Black people. I'm hoping that BET's new CEO Debra Lee will make some changes for the better. But since she's been with the company for 20 years, who knows. In some way, she's at least partially responsible for what is on their now. "The Ultimate Hustler?" Come on. And I think "College Hill" may have single-handedly undermined the years of work that "Different World" accomplished. BUFFOONERY!!!

But the real reason I wrote this post, "25 Years of Fine" or whatever it was called. So the version about women listed Alicia Keys. Whatever. Your boy, the ever idiotic Bobby Valentino says (and I paraphrase), "Ooh. She a red bone. I'm from the south. You know we love redbones. And she got that good grade of hair. And she usin Proactiv now so she got that nice, crisp skin." My mouth. It hit the floor. I fell out laughin!!! It was the shock. I just couldn't believe he had the nerve to get on national t.v. and say that! And ya boy got on 106 & Park in October and said something to the effect of I like my women barefoot and pregnant. Then Lil Wayne piped up with, "Yeah and I don't like a woman who talks too much because if she's talking, then she not listenin to me." Oh my goodness. That is so sexy. A man with barbaric ideas. The sarcasm. Its killing me.

Okay but my beef on the men's version. First, when I saw it, I said, "Ooh! Denzel's #2! Who's #1? Wow." And then they showed the man with the largest ego in the world. Usher. WHAT?! You think USHER is finer than Denzel? USHER. Stop the madness. I can't. I really can't. Awful. And Blair Underwood? Oh yeah they left him off. Enough. I think I'm done with BET for a minute.

Except I like "In Living Color." Our version of SNL. Lol. Two snaps, a twist and a kiss. Lolololol!!
But yes, so that brings me to one of my goals. To transform BET. Yes, we need entertainment, but we need a channel that encompasses the whole person. Clearly you can't cater to every Black person, but I think it is severely missing the boat. The channel just seems so disjointed. Like does BET have a goal? What is its mission? Wait til you hear this. This just in directly from BET corporate. If you want to see it for yourself, roll over the title of the post. VERBATIM here it goes.

CORPORATE MISSION: To be the preeminent source of entertainment, music, news and information for the African-American consumer.

BRAND POSITION: BET provides contemporary entertainment that speaks to young Black adults from an authentic, unapologetic viewpoint of the Black experience.

Oh but I wish you did that. That sounds so good right? I mean, damn. That sounds like everything I want for Black America. A place to find entertainment, music, news and info for the African-American consumer? Speaks to young Black adults from an authentic, unapologetic viewpoint? Wow BET! Doing big things. *buzzer* You're wrong. You're definitely not doing this. And five, four, three, two, one. I'm officially pissed.
