Tatted Up, Tatted Up, Tatted Uuuuuuup

In case you need a reference. Like nearly all songs I ever listened to before I started going to church regularly again, it's not for the faint of heart... I guess I shouldn't be sharing it but I needed those of you who were unclear to know what the title referred to. You know most of my friends are tatted up. The tattoo crew. Fave roomie had at least 4, maybe 5, before we graduated including two giant scorpions on her lower back (she's a Scorpio). She's added 2 more since then. One time she could hardly walk for several days because she got tatts on the inside of both ankles. Now Stace is trying to talk baby Stace (her little sis) out of the body armor tatts-- you know a tatt on every available space of her body. Chilluns. I tell you. What is it about being old enough to do stuff that makes you crazy about it? My sister thought I'd be so excited about her tatt. I wasn't. I don't understand them.

I thought about getting one but couldn't decide on anything I like now that I would still like at 30 and certainly not at 45. I just knew I'd written about this before (but this is the closest I got) because I thought I'd asked y'all for input on what to get back when it was still a close possibility. There was a long, long list of what I found unacceptable for me. Let's go down it. Butterflies and flowers-- too cliche. Paw prints-- I'm not from the jungle or the hood. My name-- I already know it. Someone else's name-- chile please. Asian symbols-- I don't speak those languages. Plus I heard a story once about this girl who walked into a Chinese restaurant and they called her "classroom" and told her that's what her tatt meant. No ma'am and no thank you. Not me, not the kid. Essentially it boiled down to... I don't want one. Don't get sensitive if you're a tatted up Tammy or Tommy. But if you're a girl I really hope you don't have a neck tatt... because there are no words...

I'm right there with you on tattoos. It's sad that parlors will show Chinese characters with their meanings completely wrong! That freaks me out enough to never get one. I did however, run out to get a belly piercing the day I turned 18. Should have written in a diary about THAT before doing it *sigh*

LOL! Mess.

I think the key to getting a tattoo is to get something you want and something that means something to you. I got my first one at 19 I believe it was and I had known what I wanted at that point and where I wanted it for 4 yrs. I have 4 right now and I still really like them all... I especially like the fact that I can hide them all when not everyone needs to know I have them, lol

Okay Judgemental Judy!! It's cool that you decided you didn't want one- the key for me was just to find a place that I would still be comfortable with 10 years from now. The back is always covered... well, except for a few brief days next month. YAY!!!!

definitely feelin you on the process of elimination thing. I can't think of a single thing i love that much to put on my body forever. You know what I'm really worried about though. Tattoos are so freakin popular now that bridal parties are starting to look more and more hood! And makeup to hide them badboys aint cheap. So I think I'm gonna have to have a rule that if your tattoo is gonna show then you can't be in my bridal party cuz it's plain t-a-c-k-y. Is that mean?

My sister got a tatto on the back of her neck vertically (like down the spine). Yea scary. Not only did she get her "name" in Japanese but she got it done in Guyana - as in South America - in this random dude's house. It was scary watching. My dad didn't even know where we were or what she was getting done. On top of that he didn't notice for a couple more years LOL. ohhh fathers

Lol. The names are the thing I can never get with. Next tattoos? Vomit. Everywhere else is ok.

Mine is the middle of my back and my dad didn't know about it for almost a year. Turns out, he didn't really care.

Here is my ubitquitous neck tattoo story. I was interviewing a girl for a job and she had a neck tattoo thats said F The World (except it was spelled out.) Didnt even try to cover it. Crazy...

I got no tats, my father's ugly Kappa brand turned me off of body modifications.

If I did get one, it would say "Rashan X" over a black fist.

Neck tatts and breast tatts peaking out of strapless dresses on women are not the hotness for me.

(Not that there's anything wrong with that!) LOL

I was going to get some tats... that Yin-Yang symbol on my right hand and the cancer symbol on my left... then I was going to get "twenty-seventh" on both of my forearms (twenty on one, seventh on the other... but I ultimately decided to hold off until I saw the direction my life was going... and I'm still unsure... so no tats for cannon

I like tattoos. They can be very artistic. I am definitely going to get one whenever I get the funds

People have really gone overboard with the tattoos. Why do you need full on sleeves at the age of 20? It's gonna be sooo ugly when they hit 30 or 40. My sister is coming out in 2 weeks and wants to get tattoos. If I did get one I'd do a Violater Rose (it's a Depeche Mode thing. I hate pain so I don't think so.

No tatts? That's cool. So many people in our generation have them (including present company). I enjoy my artwork but I definitely understand why it isn't for everyone

*sigh* and the thing is she wants them in every conspicuous location!!

i think the neck tat is the worst. i'd sooner get an arm tat or paw prin... wait.

damn, they're all hood.

LMAO!!!

I have 4 tattoos, all pretty small except the one on my lower back. I forget I have them most of the time because a majority are hidden, except the heart on my wrist. I have Japanese symbols, one my name and the other for strength. I researched both though before I got them. I took Japanese in High School so I was able to look up the symbols. I would NEVER just go and get something and not know...they could be putting something crazy on you!!!

My sister got a tattoo of her then boyfriend's name on her back when she was 19...I almost KILLT her!!! She got it covered up a month later but I sure did threaten to spill the beans to my mother. She was sooo stupid for that!!!

I think I want one more on my hip...just haven't figured out what yet...something preeeetttyy though...lol

neck tatt for a girl...lol- ok then

i couldn't see myself getting the skin alterin paint and i don't think i'll ever have the desire too. plus i hear their addicting (my friend went from 1 to 16 in a matter of a year) and I don't need any other things to be addicted do...

I will never get a tattoo for the same reason: I change my mind enough that I don't trust I'd be happy forever with any one image. I've already removed all the extra piercings (one in my nose and two in my upper ear) that I got in the 90's. Also, I was friends for a while with a tattoo artist and she told me all the complications that can arise from tattoos. Like tissue necrosis, where your skin dies and falls off. Yech.

sandy... HA!! that's sooo why i have no chinese characters on my body!! lmao @ belly piercing. i saw them on tv and that was enough to get me to never get one no matter how many people think my belly is just so cute and the navel just begs for a hole. nope.

pcd... HAHAHAHAHAHA! GET IT GIRL!!

la... hahahaha. you're absolutely right. but too many people just put the first thing that pops into their heads and on the most conspicuous spot. your tweety and taz tatts are fab at 16. not so much at 19. very very stupid at 25.

x... do you.

mm... LMAO @ no bridal party for those of you w/large tatts. HUHlarity. down the spine???? errr????

v... names and neck tatts son!! lolol. my dad can't stand tatts. but he always lets us make our own choices and live w/them after trying to talk us out of them.

rj... stop. no. no. no!! insanity. did you hire her?

hahahahaha. i couldn't help it. LOVE the jameil-inspired tatt!!! lololol. i actually love brands tho... it makes no sense... i know. but i do. but only on guys.

1969... and the prom pics with the giant flower tatt on the arm?? or your kid's face!! how did i forget that!!!!!!????

canon... that's all i'm sayin!! FOLK NEED TO WAIT!!

epsi... please let it be something you've liked since birth and will like until death.

liz... this is what i'm sayin. just wait a while. you don't know how your life is going to turn out and you're tatting all the "in" stuff all over your body. you won't like that by FALL and it's permanently inked on your body. see no.

doll... yep and i believe i'm one in that no.

stace... i know right! there's no deciding it. let's not also forget the hearts.

b... if i got one anywhere, mine would be on the hip, too. mad at the tatt of the boy's name. what in the???

desy... see naw. huh uh. i like my skin ON MY BODY.

red... i used to really want a nose ring! but i never got one. i wouldn't mind another ear piercing. my sister has her tragus pierced. i went w/her when she got it done the 2nd time. it was so gross. (the first time it was done poorly and slid right out of her ear w/in a year or so.)
