My father has this thing about wanting to get on my nerves. He likes to rile me up. I know this and usually try not to give him the pleasure but some days.... You know how when you walk in the door you don't want anyone messing with you? That's so me. I don't want to talk, I don't want to be bothered. I don't want you touching my hair, I don't want you messing with me. Rattling off the prices of flights I can't take for 3 minutes set me off. STOP TALKING!!
While leaving church today I decided what I'm going to give up for Lent: talking about people's clothes. It's a hot mess. I just see so much horridity walking the aisles. So many fashion NO, NO NOOOOOOOs!! It's just so hard for me to hold my tongue and not describe in pain-staking detail how horrible someone looks... before I even get in my car after church I want to do this. Church is the place I come in contact with a dizzying array of bad fashion. So I'm giving it up for Lent. I cannot tell you what the next week or so will be like until Lent. Mardi Gras I may just start talking about every white leather calf-high with matching white leather jacket clomping alongside her girl in the red pumps with no stockings even though it's snowing and 25 degrees. See what I mean? No more for Lent!

Does that include Project Runway too or will that be over by Lent?
Your dad is funny although if someone did that to me, I wouldnt think it was funny.
Oooh, my mom is master to tugging on my nerves like that. No one can annoy me like she does.
But Mardi Gras is like the ultimate parade of horridity! I envy your strength...
I feel you. Some days you just DON'T want to be bothered, and whoever is the unfortunate party to piss you off too much catches it. That's on them though.
And once again, GET THEE BEHIND ME, FASHIONISTA!
um...are you even catholic?
I so hear you about not wanting to be bugged some days. I've never had to live with someone who tried pushing my buttons like that. Or maybe they tried it once and then decided not to repeat the experience because I bit their head off.
Or Episcopalian? Can you give anything up for Lent?
I don't do stockings either- no matter how cold it is . They just don't match my skin tone. But the white boots and jacket are a bit much!
Good luck with that Miss Fashionista:)
LOL! Its the initiative of sacrifice that counts!
Lol... just another reason I don't go church. My eyes can't take the foolishness!
lol..n i thot being fashionable at places of worship happened only in this part of the world...nice blog :D
rj... of course that's not included! are ya crazy!? maybe it should be not talking about church people's clothes? glad you think he's funny. i'll send him to you next time he acts up.
sandy... so annoying!! mardi gras is all in good fun tho!
chris... actually i don't ever wanna be bothered like that. if you dress right you wouldn't have to worry abt it.
kara... its not a catholic thing. its Christian. and no.
red... nearly nothing deters him. walking away is good but when i'm blogging, i'm a captive audience.
x... no on episcopalian. yes you can give up any practice. i don't understand anti-stocking folk.
doll... tho that seems sarcastic... thanks.
eb... there it is. you've answered the questions of all who asked.
shani. you actin up.
mav... thx. its everywhere. i think its an epidemic.
why she gotta be clomping though? LOLOLOL!
ugh i can't stand white shoes. white is such a sensitive color!
did the jacket have fringe? i feel like it did (or wanted to)
I'm with Stace... Was the length of her weave about as long as the fringe on her matching leather jacket? Was her handbag clearly plasticky-looking from Claire's or somewhere?
No

for
Lent!

I don't get stocking folks.. especially the "skin toned" ones. I'm all for the black stocking thing wiith black dresses when it's super, super cold. But if I have on a wool skirt and shirt or jacket that is a light color, what color stockings am I supposed to wear? Oh I know... NONE! My legs are fab!
Oh I forgot to say this part... I meant can YOU give up anything for Lent? I was with Karamale: isn't the celebration of Lent primarily Catholic and Episcopalian practice?
no. i grew up AME and AMEZion and we've always celebrated Lent in my family. now i go to a baptist church and same thing.
i wear the brown stockings w/light-colored clothing. stockings are so classy.
Stace... b/c she was!! like her shoes didn't fit. not sure if there was fringe. i was just trying to get my corneas to begin working after the scorching.
Pro...she probably did have a plastic bag but like i said, i was working on cornea recovery.
it's "christian." i grew up baptist...crimmuh and easter was all we celebrated. (though i think i remember something about kids walking out the church with palm fronds or some such nonsense, but that coulda been much-a-nuthin since it was florida, after all).
oh, no. you simply must keep talking about the bad outfits. how else will they learn?
