That's absolutely in reference to my state of mind. my mind is just wandering today. partially b/c i'm off. yay!!! i went to see the b.f. last week. we met in the middle. the big danville, pa. we always have a great time. he CRACKS me up!!! we're like two giant kids together. its so hard for me to use mixed capitals. at work all scripts are typed in all caps. so i've become very used to just typing w/o mixed capitals. makes it very hard when blogging. so today is a tribute to laziness!!!
can i say that i LOVE being off in the middle of the week? the weekend morning producer is becoming one of my fave people. plus the skeleton shift is so relaxing in comparison to all the madness of having too many cooks in the pot (i.e. a minimal of four managers in the building at all times when preparing for the 90 (a.k.a the 5, 530 and 6)). and one of the anchors has been jumping on my nerves the last two days. whateva. i'm not there so na nana boo boo!!!
i'm going out tonight. i had previously decided for the second time that wednesday is the new friday (since this month i'm off thursdays and fridays), making thursday the new saturday. go thursdays!!! and after this nightmarish experience, i've decided i will bite the bullet and hit the streets alone. no worries, guys! i'm not becoming a whore or a stripper/hofloozy lololol!! that was a hilarious arse post. go read it. speaking of strippers (how hilarious is that lead in?? hahahaha), have you heard "i'm n luv with a stripper" by t-pain? THE most hilarious song in too long. lololol. i mean his name is t-pain. what the...?? here's a lyrical excerpt "Im N luv with a stripper/She poppin she rollin she rollin/She climbin that pole and/Im N Luv with a stripper/She trippin she playin she playin/Im not goin nowhere girl im stayin/Im N Luv with a stripper" lololol word??? lololol. the part that cracks me up is "she climbin that pole." its so hilarious tho because he sings it with such feeling. puts his whole heart into his stripper love. kinda like olivia (yes the same one of recent 50 cent luv *pulling out vomit bag*) in "silly bitch in love" from her first cd. thanks to mich and morg for always singin along and introing me to the madness. lololol. and she's always singin her heart out in some foolishness!! lolol.
i'm bingeing on dvds right now. everytime i see a sale i'm like ooh!! i need that!! inthe last three months i've bought "mean girls," "brown sugar," "the color purple," "superstar" (which i'm watching right now... HILARIOUS!!! "just doing my part to save the rain forest." (which she says to a nun after getting caught making out with a tree, quivering and saying "ohhhh my body) "mary... you're a special girl. so special we're going to put you in special ed." lolololol). the b.f. gave me "cinderella" (b/c i'm a princess) ok not really. lolol. he gave it to me b/c he got it for free at work. lololol. two days ago i bought "love jones," "out of time" (grrrrrrrrEAT movie), "guess who" (pretty funny), and "redemption" (still haven't seen it, any thoughts?). was that enough? oh yeah and i'm still watching my fave movie "when harry met sally" w/regularity, too. today, mini movie marathon day. i do this at least once a week. this time i'm not gonna sit and drink beer so i can stay awake (unlike yesterday). lololol. too bad they're weren't any spike lee movies. he's my fave. did i tell you he's coming here later this month??? i'm so excited!! i don't think i can stand it!! whoooooooooo go spike!!!
b.f. i hope you're having a beautiful day. i love YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!! (lolol. you guys weren't expecting that one were you???) don't ever wonder. i'm always in your corner 100%.
can i say i love food? i do. big macs, french fries, italian, greek, mexican, soul food. dang i miss my momma!! yesterday at work at 3 in the morning, i wanted some of that breyer's strawberry ice cream in my freezer right now. as you can see it provides me with vitamins c and a, calcium, and even protein!! yummmmmm-o to quote my fave food network star rachael ray. if you do not share my love of her you can be oooooooooooooooooooout!!! lolol. i told the b.f. that's a breaking point. i can't be w/someone who doesn't love her. if you ain't gettin w/rachael ray, i'm just sayin, something's wrong with you. 30 minute meals got me cookin again. i'm not alone! how can you not love that smile???!! i got my mom watchin her, too. I LOVE RACHAEL RAY!!! she has like a million books. i want her latest 365 no repeats so bad i could cry!!! (perhaps i could use some of that dvd money huh?? lolol) she's the best!!! go rache!!! shouts to miss ashli for introing me to her back at our home by the sea!

Thursday 13: Why I Love Rachael Ray!
I'm fasting today for a program the Muslims on campus are having. For every person who fasts they/local restaurants will donate a pound of food. And tonight we'll break the fast with free food on campus! Either Indian or Mediterranean. Either way, works for me! And I've been up for about 3 hours. 6 hours to go. That's not bad! I can do it! I'm going to the gym today and out with the black grad students tonight. I'll be busy today! Anyway despite my food-free daylight hours, I'm going to grace you with this delightful TT!
1) "Hi there. I'm Rachael Ray and I make 30 Minute Meals. That means in the time it takes you to watch this program, I'll have made a delicious and healthy meal from start to finish." Who doesn't want to be able to have that? Yes, I've seen the show so many times I've memorized that opening shpiel WHICH SHE CHANGED this season along with her set. It really hurt my heart a little.
2) EVOO: Extra virgin olive oil. She uses it incessantly and now I do, too. I'll have it in my home before any other and I buy more before I run out.
3) Everyday with Rachael Ray: My mom got me this magazine subscription for Christmas last year and I was OVERJOYED! YAY!!
4) Perkiness: This is not an automatic with me because overly happy people annoy me as Grinch as that sounds but with her it translates into enthusiasm.
5) Inspiration: She taught me a lot of recipes and cooking techniques and inspired me to get in the kitchen.
6) Yum-o. It's just so apropos! And funny. Another one of her coined words.
7) $40 A Day: This show taught me to ask EVERYONE about the best places to eat. I've found some DELISH (another Rach word) places by doing this.
8) Birthday buddies!: Ours are just days apart! Hers is the 25th of August, mine is the 23rd! Yay!
9) Ground turkey: another thing I use in just about everything now that I never would have. I barely even like ground beef anymore. I'm also about to experiment with ground chicken-- another Rach suggestion.
10) MEXICAN FOOD!! AHHH!! She made this so accessible to me at home that it actually made me want to go out and try it more as well. Now as it is well known in all the blog world J'AIME IT!!!! I will go ahead and but chipotle (not the restaurant) in here, too since she got me on that and I mostly use it in Mexican.
11) Black beans. Oh black beans! Said it loud, I love black beans and I'm proud! And not just in Mexican. I got this black bean stoup recipe from 365: No Repeats (one of her books) that is DIVINE!!
12) "You're only learning a method." Rach taught me to experiment when I cook. Learn whatever she's cooking, then amend the recipe adding and subtracting and substituting to suit my personal tastes.
13) Spices! I was already on oregano (my fave) but she taught me it means joy of the mountain! I was up on a few others, too, but I use them more and I've really added cumin to my repertoire. Mmm!
*I know you're wondering, "Where was Jameil's mama and why didn't she teach her this stuff??" My mom was busy working and going back to school while my dad was traveling a lot for work (for weeks at a time) when we were younger so she had no time to teach us to cook. Then when she had time I didn't want to learn anymore. But yes, my mom can cook and I definitely call her when Rach won't answer my calls. Lololol. Thanks Rach!!

Where you been girl?!!
I know you're saying to yourself, "Self, where has that jameil1922 been?" Well I'll tell you, all over creation and nowhere at the same time. I know you have also said to yourself, "Self, jameil1922 is gettin awfully deep into my black business up in heah, when is she going to do one of those crazy sidetrack bob-ish things again?" Well, here it is! And today, there will be two. You know why? Because I can do that. Also b/c I will not have time to write all of it at once.
So the schedule has slowed down considerably, thank GOD!! I was in danger of losing it. So its lent right? I "gave up" soda. All that means is that I have drank one soda a week (or two) instead of 4. And there have been times where soda was available and I drank water or juice. I'm very proud of myself so THERE! Lol. I know, so weak right? Anyway. Pittsburgh is more than 50% Catholic. That means there are fish sandwiches on sale everywhere here. Arby's, McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, the Italian Market. And do you know I went to Taco Bell and there were at least 5 "Lent Specials"????? Hahahahaha!! How hilarious is that?! Its like the whole area is like, yeah, you're not gonna catch me slippin, no way! I will be offering my meatless options, yes indeedy!
And on St. Patty's Day, Al on the Today Show said "It's noon somewhere!" when he was about to have a drink! I second that emotion! But then again, since the latest I go in to work is 430 in the morning, I usually only drink before 7 anyway!
I had this crazy dream last night that Cole from Martin was one of my boys. So we're in this club (he was himself, not Cole, so of regular common sense, but still funny) and he decides he's going to carry me everywhere. Not like a baby or on his back but like w/his elbows under my armpits. Strange but hilarious. He does this for a good 20 minutes. Talking to people, dancing, leading a conga line. The whole 9. It was great. Then we decide to throw a party. We're in VA/West Va. for some reason. We go to this grocery store and our friends steal a case of lobster. Then they decide to pay for some of the other stuff they stole. So one of them comes back in with a bag of greens with a giant live fish flopping around inside. They throw the fish back and go to pay. O...kay right? Lol.
March Madness is ever be where!! I love it!! But only b-ball. I hate the car sales, women's networks and everywhere else that tries to get it on it. I'm like booooooo! I love, love, LOVE this time of year! George Mason knocks out Carolina (kisses rell! :O) lolol). Duke still doin it big then. I would say 80 % of the teams I picked are out. Ok I just checked again. I'm doing better than I thought. I picked 10 of the Sweet 16 teams. That's not bad for March Madness.. But I had Pitt in the Elite 8.
Congrats to my little sister for crossing the burning sands into the Illustrious Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated, Omicron Eta Chapter.
Block Party. If you love Dead Prez, Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, the Roots and the vibe they all have, you need to go RIGHT NOW to see it. (But finish reading first). The joint is tight. I wanted to stand up in the movie and act like I was in the concert. But I was w/a white person. And the only Black person out of 7 people in the theater (it was the middle of the day). I didn't want to be stereotypical. Lolol.
Before that I went to the Church Brew Works. Just wrong. But the food was so good. I had the potato and leek soup; the spinach, feta and artichoke dip; and the sun-dried tomato pesto pasta. Deelish!! Love it! :)
Less than two weeks ago, there wasn't a day below 60 in the five-day forecast. This week there isn't a day above 38. What kind of ish is that?!! Its almost April!! Give us us free!! Down with winter, down with winter! (That's my picket sign). Winter is now a part of my boycott on holidays. How fitting seeing as how the holidays I'm boycotting are in said season.
My Rachael Ray book is the BOMB!! Too great! Love it so much. Miss A asked me if it had vegetarian/vegan dishes. Yeah girl! But let me tell you about the two I've made since the book. The first was a chicken cacciatore stoup (thicker than a soup, thinner than a stew). It had chicken, garlic, onion, spinach, mushrooms, chicken stock, tomatoes. It was DEEEELISH! (To quote the illustrious Rachael Ray). The other meal was gently seared pork chops w/a homemade mushroom gravy, baby red skin smashed sour cream potatoes, and spinach. So great, my brother, who was in town for a day left me no leftovers. I was a little pissed about that b/c I love leftovers.

IT'S CHRISTMAS!!!
Merry Christmas to All!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited!! The first person I called this morning was my mommy, as soon as I woke up!! I've been up about an hour now. Don't worry, the Mariah Carey Christmas cd is already blasting!! Hope the neighors aren't asleep! 8:35 on Christmas morning?? No way! I don't care if I'd already opened all my gifts by the end of yesterday morning. Lolol. I did think about making myself breakfast since my mom's going to my cousin's house for breakfast in Charlotte.
You know what I love about my dad's side? My parents separated when I was 13 (12 years ago, I was pissed because it coincided with my birthday), and got divorced when I was 17 (I have no idea about that space... and they didn't tell us for months), but they always include my mom even when my sister and I are nowhere to be found. That's why I'm the all-inclusive girl. My mom has so many surrogate families in Charlotte that even though she's from Mississippi, Charlotte is now home. She's been there 26 years, raised two children there, and created a whole new life. I love my mommy!!
"Today a child is born on earth! He is light! He is love! He is grace! Born on Christmas Day!!"
REPEAT!!! I LOVE THAT SONG!! I hope Ash is with her fabulous niece and all my other friends and bloggers are enjoying their families. I've brought Charlotte to me with this cd.
I wrapped Stace's gifts last night. They look fabulous! "You better not cry, you better not pout, LaStaceyontalay is coming to town!!" Y'all didn't know that's her real name? She thinks its ghetto so she just goes by Stace. Isn't that stuck up of her? Sike nah. Hahahahaha. I made that name up in college (it started with Staceyon b/c she started with Jameilion, which is now Jameilionte) and can't stop adding to it. I so love giving gifts. That card is the one I sent out to all my homies this year. Isn't it fab!? I shall take a pic of all the Christmas cards, too. AND the thank you note my preggers fave roomie sent me that came yesterday. I love thank you notes, too. Mostly because I like the mail! Yay!! 8/10 cards we have are for me! Yay!! AND the other two are from my family to my dad so... mine, too!! Hahahaha.
Wanna see what I got my line sister? Okay!
I also bought a v-neck, cable-knit, cream sweater. I liked it so much I bought one for myself, too. The blazer is from Guess. She loves pink and purple. How adorable is that jacket?! Love it. I only buy things for people I like myself, unless our tastes are just diametrically opposed. We don't have that issue. I fell in love with the rings so I bought one for me and one for her. I also gave her a cd of my pastor preaching. I always leave church and call her to let her know what went down scripturally so she wants to hear him. Tada! I hope she actually listens to it. Lol. I sent one to my mom, too along with some money since that's all she wanted. And they both got their gifts on time!! Yay!! It took a lot of restraint not to post those gift pics the day I bought them. Haha.
So what did I get? One of my coworkers got me a book, since we always talk about reading. "The Kite Runner." I've read it, but I don't own it. It was one of the many books my book club read before I moved here. She put the gift receipt in. I may or may not return it. Not sure yet. Oooh!!! I can get a Rachael Ray book!! When I was in the bookstore the other day I realized I only have ONE of her books. ONE!! She writes a book every other day! I've got to catch up! Some fan I am!! Lolol. But my one book (365: No Repeats) has a broken seam because I've bookmarked it and literally read it from cover to cover. I know you're like, "She's crazy!! Who reads a recipe book from cover to cover?!" Me!!! Lolol. Oooh!! "Baby it's cold outside!!" Know the funniest lines on this song? "Gosh your lips look delicious." "Gosh your lips ARE delicious." Hilarious!!! End Tangent.
The same coworker made pretzels with hershey kisses and m&m's on top. Yummy... and.... VASELINE.LIP.THERAPY!! (VLT) I love this stuff so much I buy 5 at a time and almost always have one in reaching distance. I tried the generic at Target. Poor facsimilie. It tastes like baby powder. Gross. I only tried the generic because you get two for the price of one VLT. So not worth it. Sometimes at work, I'll have more than one out because I'll lose the one that was originally out on my desk (no my desk isn't that messy, it'll only be temporarily lost under a sheet of paper), so then I pick up another. I try to keep at least one on my bed so it's handy while I'm reading. And when I'm in the booth & the homie is there, I'll ask her to bring it to me. Most hilarious and appropriate gift. Lol. I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT IT!! I realized my fave gifts are never expensive, they're always stuff that I love that shows you pay attention.
Did you see that I just did a whole paragraph about something that costs 99 cents? That is insanity. Let's say you were gonna get me a Christmas gift based on what you know about me from the blog (or if you've already met me, you can draw on your prior knowledge), what would it be? Whoever comes up with the best gift gets an entire post dedicated to them!! (Gift cards excluded) Go!!
*The Christmas texts have already started. God save me. I hate these things. Also. Ew. Elv.is. He cannot sing and he stole the songs of black people to become ludicrously rich. Every year he's one of the dead people who made the most money. That song on my Christmas compilation almost kept me from buying it.*
My godmother, you know the one with the fabulous gift-giving ability? I forgot to tell you one year she gave me her SGRho sweater from Hampton. I was walking around with the sweater of a charter line member of my chapter. I can't even begin to tell you the looks of envy!! It was fabulous! Lol. I know that's horrible! I also have this thing about giving away or getting rid of the clothes she gives me. Not just because I love them, but something else. IDK what it is. Ooh!! She also always sent me the BEST care packages!! Filled with food and always including a check. And she would send me a check for random holidays. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day. Lol.
This year she called for some ideas like she usually does. It was the first time this year I'd been asked what I wanted so I rattled off a list of random things I like. She got me the i.Home speakers and a car jack for my ipod. Yay!!! When I said those I really didn't expect her to get both!! Whooooooooo!!
One of my coworkers gave me a 3-disc compilation of her Christmas faves!! YAY!!!!! How delightful! I so wasn't expecting anything from her. We have such a volatile relationship because this time last year we could barely tolerate each other. I guess we have a rapport of sorts. We must, huh?
Oooh! So the coworker who got me the vaseline is obsessed w/the Hills so I got her season 1 on DVD. She was overjoyed! Lolol. She gasped when she opened it. My other fave coworker, I got her this margarita mixer she'd been eyeing since she saw it on Oprah 3 months ago and bath stuff with a scent I know she likes. In case you're wondering, yes I still have lots and lots of stuff left to do until Stace gets here but her room is almost ready! (Scroll down for our itinerary!) The expensive shampoo, my Christmas present to myself, gets its trial today. Cross thine fingers!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!! DON'T FORGET THE CONTEST!!
*Meeee I want a hoooooola-hoooooooooop!! We can hardly stand the wait! Please Christmas don't be late!* Name that tune!

I Roll Fatly
I know this will not surprise any of you who read this blog even semi-regularly but...
I'M HUNGRY!!
Like all the time.
Sometimes (okay MOST of the time) while eating one meal, I'm thinking about the next. It's bad. My mom said as much as I talk about food I should be two tons of fun. I can't help myself! And this summer I've been cooking up a storm which is absolutely exacerbating the problem.
BTW isn't this like the best! picture! ever!? I walked into Rashan's room where I was meal-planning and it struck me that I had 4 Rachael Ray mags and 3 books and I should TOTALLY take a picture of that! So awesome! (And that's just the tip of my Rach iceberg). I also got unnecessarily excited when I saw Rachael Ray chicken stock in the grocery store-- I even used the recipe on the box for the chicken in meal number 3 below. My mom gets kind of jealous of my Rach love because she taught me stuff about food first. It's kind of funny in an incredulous kind of way. Hey mom... chill out. Lol. Nevertheless, meal-planning for one day almost always makes me hungry immediately no matter how recent my last meal. As I write this post, shortly after thinking about eggs over-medium just worked me up into a near-frenzy, I'm starving! But I think that's an illusion because when I thought that Monday night I went downstairs and whipped up some eggs with potatoes and salmon already cooked and went to town. After the first couple of bites I was satiated.
And don't let me have worked out and have an excuse to think fatly. It is hilarious to me that fatly is a word. As in, "I was fatly planning meals, you know, Paula Deen-style with lots of butter and mayonnaise and bacon, preferably in the same dish..." Kidding. I would never say that. I don't like mayo very much and a butter and bacon combo sounds disgusting to me. As if bacon doesn't work fatly enough. *snicker* (Don't get me started on the pitifulness of turkey bacon *shudder* and don't tell me about your turkey bacon either because it is nowhere near the taste of the thick-cut applewood smoked bacon at the Dekalb Farmers Market aka Jameil Heaven. That is some of the best bacon I've ever had in my LIFE. Right up there with the Cracker Barrel bacon. MMM!!)
Some of my meals so far this summer:
1) Ground turkey (with cumin, poblano peppers (pretty mild but a nice pepper flavor), cumin, salt, pepper, cilantro), oven frites, corn and black beans (drained & rinsed, add s&p, cilantro, cumin, lime juice) with homemade guacamole (avocado smashed, add garlic (optional), cilantro, lime, s&p, onion).
2) "Casablanca" lamb burgers with fried potatoes. (pictured right)
3) Chili lime salmon (twist on the recipe from the frozen salmon bag-- baste the salmon with garlic, poblanos, s&p, cumin, lime juice (notice a theme?) and EVOO-- extra virgin olive oil-- broil at 400 for 6-7 mins on each side, basting when you turn) with poblano creamed corn and cumin thyme black beans (twist on the recipe on the bean can).
4) Chicken breast with a mustard gravy (from the Rach-brand chicken stock), broccoli and a quinoa-orzo-baby garbanzo bean-couscous mix (from Trader Joe's but using a Rach recipe for quinoa (pronounced "keen-wah")).
5) Peruvian chicken (I used a whole chicken which means you need to make sure to season the cavity well) with sauteed spinach and cheddar broccoli rice (right out of one of those flavored bag rices-- not my normal route but Rah had it in the cabinet so I snatched it right out).
6) Don't-kiss-me garlic and Adirondacker burgers (yes, 2 burgers in one night-- we each had 1/2 of a different burger) with oven steamed zucchini (garlic, onions, zucchini coins in a foil packet on 350-- twist on an Aida recipe) and sour cream smashed yukon gold potatoes.
7) Gaucho burger with charred pico de gallo and homemade guacamole and tortilla chips.
We weren't fans of the charred pico in this one so if I made it again (because the burger was delish otherwise) I would just make a regular pico.
8) Eggplant mushroom parmigiana. For this one I used a Mario Batalli recipe (plus mushrooms) with a homemade marinara recipe he provided. AMAZING! I liked this a lot and it's less fat(ly... lol, yes, I know that is grammatically incorrect) than the regular fried eggplant version.
This is in the last month (4 in the last week), along with trying several new restaurants and some old faves, which may not be much for some of you but is a small miracle for me. I am admittedly a Food Network nut and love burgers as much as/more than I love Mexican and eggs. I can't decide AND WON'T!! If I could have all 3 in a meal it would probably be too much! I've combined 2 on several occasions. Hmmm.... I'm thinking a mexican burger topped with a fried egg. Oh YES!! See what I mean? Just fat!! Internally fat!! That was a completely unplanned tangent.
Anyway almost all of these recipes were Rachael Ray. Yes, Rashan and my mom have been LOVING ME!! Lol. And there are more to come because the more I cook unfamiliar foods (many of these recipes were my first time trying either the method or one or more of the ingredients; all except number 1 were my first time trying the recipe. 1 was a mix of my fave ingredients which I would usually add tortillas to), the more confident I become about cooking (even better when they clean the kitchen) and the more willing I am to try lots of stuff. Wheeeee!

what kind of car do you drive? who would you tongue kiss for $100,000 tax free dollars out of randy jackson from American Idol or kevin federline? (6) you don't look like you can :-P, but can you cook? and what's your specialty?
Ok I did see ashli and stace tried to get smart and answer those questions. ashli is right about the 100k. tho i'd rather go broke than do either. first of all i don't do old dudes and randy is definitely in that category. and there is nothing sexy about him. he looks like he wheezes. do you see how he has his mouth open all the time? uh uh. and i hate american idol. wack. but then, i definitely can't do the greasy white trash. so i'll just have to pay my taxes. and i'm gonna fight you hater!! yes i can cook. i like cooking. 365 no repeats!! go rachael ray!! i should get paid as much as i promo her book. but brekky is my specialty and my fave. and i make a mean peach cobbler from scratch. but i also do great burgers. and i love chicken dishes. i'm strangely good at following recipes. the first time i make just about anything, it ordinarily comes out the way i wanted it to.

Miss A, in Jameil's absence I'll answer your questions for you, lets see how good i am at this: drives a lancer, and for 100,000 tax free dollars she would kiss randy because i can't see her kissing a dirty lookin wannabe rappin white boy, and she can only cook breakfast since thats all she eats, specialty = western omelet and a side of homefries. And when's she's real saddity with it she'll make a frittata instead with a side scallopped potato casserole and for lunch a steak burger with chunks of gorganzola cheese, a pesto mayo all on a garlic & onion focaccia round. Holla!

The proof is in the pudding. J/k. hahahaha. That was hilarious. You were sittin here like wtf?? Yeah, I've always been like this for the most part. There were times when I wasn't as confident in all areas. But I've been told I was intelligent and special my whole life. So you start to believe it.

What made you want to go into journalism? Where do you see yourself in the next 10 years? How many kids you want (can have grandbabies unless you make or adopt a kid)? How long you and you bf been together?Did you get your liver pudding? What side of the bed do you sleep on?
It was either journalism, music, english, veterinary medicine, or genetics. music was out b/c i HATE theory. english was out b/c i don't like subjective opinions for a grade. veterinary medicine out b/c i don't like animals enough and i certainly don't want to see sick ones. i was only considering that b/c my cousin is a vet and i thought that was so cool. genetics b/c i think dna and all that is soooo cool. but i have always had awful evil math teachers so that was out, too.
10 years, I see myself doing something huge, making a significant amount of money, married with 2 or 3 kids. Leaning toward 3. I wouldn't mind adoption if my husband and I couldn't have kids and am seriously considering adoption anyway. I've wanted to adopt since I was like 13. i don't know why.
The bf. We went to Hampton together. Met freshman year and became friends thru several mutual friends. Got closer soph. yr. b/c we were in the same major, had a lot of classes together, and would give each other love/relationship advice. It was really great. Over the course of soph, jr and senior years, he became one of my closest friends and confidantes. He tried to convince me to kiss him (he claims once a semester, but i know it was more than that) but I didn't want to ruin our friendship. He was one of my few male friends to keep in touch with me throughout the summer. We went to Sr. Ball together. The night of graduation we stayed up all night talking and listening to music in his car. (Hmmm.... That's strange. He had an apt. I have no idea why we stayed in his car).
The year following graduation, we stayed close and in touch. Continuing to talk to each other at least twice a week for at least an hour and a half, and up to four or five hours. What the hell do we talk about? We try to figure this out everytime we have a marathon session (including yesterday's 3 hour convo). We talk about music a LOT, sports, work (those two go hand in hand for him), rachael ray (LMAO!!), tv. I think that's about it. But probably not. Oh yeah, and sex! So about a year ago, maybe even a year and a half, I started thinking about him in "that way." As more than a friend that is. And it took me about a year, from about October 2004 to August 2005 to convince myself it was ok to love him beyond our friendship love; and that it wouldn't ruin our friendship. So I sent him a letter. It was only one page but it said everything I needed it to. He didn't know how to take it. So we just kind of ignored it.
He sent me a package for my bday in August and it was just what I wanted. I was home alone w/no friends as I had just moved to Pittsburgh. So he talked to me from 1130 pm on August 22nd until about 3 hours into my birthday. In October, we made plans to meet in the middle for the first time. It was our first time seeing each other in a year and a month and a half. I knew then and he says he did too but we weren't honest with each other. We both acted like it was nice but not really a big deal. Then he called me in November to ask me if I wanted to fly in to see The Color Purple on Broadway w/him. Of course I said yes. We saw the play on December 5th. I went home on the 6th. The 10th he told me he loved me and asked me to be his girlfriend. So it has been nearly 5 months.
Didn't get my liver pudding!!! totally forgot until you said that!! i'm going to push myself off of something!!! ahhhhhhh!! lololol. i usually sleep on whatever side of the bed the window isn't on. i hate sleeping next to the window.

Virus Be Gone!
Do you know that I just slept 14 glorious hours? It was wonderful. And truly I could've slept more but I decided ehh... I guess I should get up! Lol. So I did around 4:30 this morning. Checked the mail and found a letter from my church about the mentors taking the mentees to see the Great D.ebaters. You mean me waiting to see this means I get to see it for free? Score! I don't actually have a mentee because my contract with the station here is up in August 2009 and it's a foregone conclusion that Pittsburgh will not be able to keep me here beyond that time. The mentorship program is a 3-year commitment that starts in 6th grade and "ends" with 8th grade, though of course they hope you keep it going. So I'm there (at the movie)... though really I'm not sure what my role is but I'm there.
Before I slept until my eyelashes fell off (that's what I told my coworker I was about to do but thank God they're still there!! I think they're growing. They used to be stubby but they look longer now.), I took the doctor's suggested OTC meds. The A.frin? I felt so much better almost immediately that I considered calling the job back and going in. Just because there were so many people who had already called off. But I was still exhausted especially since I spent an hour and a half at the doctor's office. He got caught up because he had to suddenly send someone to the hospital. I maintained my calm because there but for the grace of God go I. (Apparently that phrase is attributed to John Bradfor.d.) Good thing I didn't go. I would not have gotten that gangsta sleep. They can survive a day without me. Especially since that's where I got the nastiest of all nasties!! My doctor's message: Tell the people at work to wash their hands!! Seriously. Disgusting. How about this, too. Stop coming to work sick. Thanks.
I finished my delightful Rachael Ray mag. It's chock full of good recipes. Toward the end of last year I discovered my favorite book of the bible is James. I was in the Christian bookstore looking through the sales (I love bookstore sale racks. Conventional and Christian. They're full of good books that just haven't sold. I've found so many books I never would've read if they weren't now $6 or less.) and found Get R.eal: Don't Just B.elieve It- Do Something About It. It's an interactive Bible study based on the book of James. And it cost something like $4. I was ecstatic and I'm loving it. It makes me so thoughtful. I keep hearing and reading all of these messages that tie into the same thing. Even when I just open my Bible to a random place and start reading, the same theme arises. "Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD." Psalms 27:14. So much so that the other day I just started laughing, looked up and said, "Ok God! I get it!" Still working on PATIENTLY waiting but I'm getting it together. I'm a work in progress.
I'm also reading a free book from work. This one I love, too. It's very timely with the frenzy surrounding the presidential primaries. Does anyone else see Hillary cracking? She's seeing her dream die daily. It's kind of sad but I called this one long ago before she even officially announced. She's too fragmented a figure. People either love her or hate her. There's very little middle ground. Of course I fall in the middle ground. It's called I really don't care but I don't have a good feeling about her. I was a big Bill fan but his wife? Not so much. I like people with charisma. That's why I did not like K.erry or G.ore. Bor.ing. They didn't capture me at all. I was very disappointed in my first and second presidential election choices. I used to like John Mc.Cain (I don't do partisan politics. I look at all of the candidates and decide who most follows what I believe is best for the nation.) but he won't stop beating this dead horse called the war in Iraq. (But did you even read that and see that the Iraqis said they would be ready to take over by the end of 2006!!!!! 2006!!! That was more than a year ago!!) That makes you out in my book. No indeed.
Back to the book. It's called Memo to the Preside.nt Elect: How We Can Rest.ore America's Reputatio.n and Leadership by Bill Clin.ton's S.ecretary of State M.adeline Albri.ght. It just came out today. (I'm such a baller.) I'm only 44 pages in and very intrigued. As you can imagine, you likely won't approve if you lean very far to the right, but it includes some good presidential history as well. That's all for now. Holla!
*Wait! One of my fellow Hamptonians is trying to win a dream wedding. Watch her fiancee's fabulous proposal. Grab the tissues (and drool over her fab outfit) and vote! You can watch the rest but really there's no point. Even without me knowing her (I LOVE I LOVE I LOVE MY Q-T-V! Yes I know that makes no sense to non-Hampton folk.) marginally only 2 of the other proposals even come close.

Cuz I'm Keepin it Real, Cuz I'm Keepin it Real. That's Why.
Ok so in honor of my 93 post, 93 things about me, Miss A style!! I will also be fulfilling the questions from So Wise's post.
1) the title is a line from one of my fave movies. name that movie and i'll give you an internet dollar! need more? "and i'd like to thank mcdonalds for those little egg mcmuffins without which i might never be tardy." "my book is fit or fat. mine is men are from mars, women are from veeeenus." "you're a virgin who can't drive." "rollin w/the homies."
2) i haven't seen a lot of movies.

4) but i think that's part of the reason i'm not scared of movies.
5) i'm also hugely critical of movies. like they need not have a cinematographic (that could be a new word) error, plot problems, that little indescrepancy that shows you taped the same scene multiple times and spliced it.
6) brown sugar is one of my faves. its on tv right now and i'm watching it like i haven't already seen it like 6 times in 06. its true, i watch it about once a month, or when i get bored. "so whatchu gonna use your massager for? high speed low." "ketel one martini up with a twist." "the perfect verse over a tight beat." "we're gonna celebrate what? my divorce." "moo goo gai pan, from the best chinese restaurant in the land. whaaaaaaaat?"

10) i want to make documentary films about the lives of black folk.
11) i want to become international grand basileus of my sorority one day.
12) i have these amazing delusions of grandeur (not the actual psychosis that leads to irrational behavior). i think i can achieve anything.
13) that's from my parents. they always told me i could and i believed them.
14) i love cheese! yess!! all kinds. swiss, munster, monterrey jack, pepper jack, cheddar.
15) but i hate kraft singles. a lot. nastiness.
16) i think cigarettes are disgusting.
17) when i was in college i would date a weed smoker before a cigarette smoker.
18) i'm addicted to reading the ap wires.
19) if i could read them when i wasn't at work i would.
20) 112's been my fave musical group for like ever.
21) i like r&b better than rap.
22) due in part to the protectiveness of my mother and the lack of relationship w/my older half-siblings. wasn't really exposed to rap.

44) i've always had a lot of male friends.

49) i love saying outrageously conceited things. it makes me laugh.
50) this is way easier than i thought. when i saw bet's mission statement, i couldn't get it out of my head that i need to be the one to get them there.
51) wise question: If you could be doing what you really want to be doing for a living, what would it be? it changes almost daily. partly b/c conceited as it sounds, i'm pretty good at a lot of things. so i want to do what i'm good at and also makes me happy.

69) wq: Which blogger would you most like to cuddle with on the beach? (and don't defer to your current signif other either. Infidelity won't count against you. Duh.) ok this was dp's answer, "GTFOHWTBS no way Im gonna answer that..." 91) i have a friend who won't eat any food not classified as solid or liquid and that CRACKS ME UP!!
92) i've always hated tattoos but now i'm thinking about getting one b/c i don't do enough young and dumb stuff.
93) what should i get and where? here are the criteria. i want something that means something. can't be anything stereotypical/hoodish i.e. hearts, stars, animals, paw prints, flowers, cartoons, words, anything in a language i don't speak/read. and can't be anything you could see if i wore a strapless/backless dress. can't be on my arm, calf, foot, thigh, wrist, (obviously) neck. help! go.
1) the title is a line from one of my fave movies. name that movie and i'll give you an internet dollar! need more? "and i'd like to thank mcdonalds for those little egg mcmuffins without which i might never be tardy." "my book is fit or fat. mine is men are from mars, women are from veeeenus." 71) wq: Which was better, your first kiss or your first pay check? first kiss. even tho it was on a bus w/an audience. no matter how dark, when people saw us sittin together, they were already tryin to be in the bizness. hahaha. but my first check was nothing.
72) i'm only at my 2nd job ever.
73) my first was at express the summer after my soph. yr. at hampton.
74) wq: Do you have kids? Want kids? TOO selfish to have kids right now. i do want them, tho b/c i think kids are cute. besides you can't take this flyness to the grave, it would be wrong! lol
75) but i also want to adopt. i don't know why, but i have a soft spot for adoption.
76) wq: Live the rest of your life without your eyebrows or your fingernails? you're kinda crazy homey. did you come up w/these? lol. definitely w/o brows.
77) but that's mostly b/c i have great nails. they've been one of my fave body parts for a long time. how crazy is that? but people have always loved my nails.

89) i hate being tagged on here. b/c i like to post what i wanna post. but if its something interesting and i'm not being forced or you shout me out properly, i might do it. (egomaniac)
90) the war in iraq makes me inordinately sad b/c so many people die daily, not just soldiers, but civilians. my sister's prom date is over there in the desert somewhere and i want him to come back in one piece.
91) i have a friend who won't eat any food not classified as solid or liquid and that CRACKS ME UP!!
92) i've always hated tattoos but now i'm thinking about getting one b/c i don't do enough young and dumb stuff.

SWITCH!* (Updated)
We all know how much I like to complain about the weather. Mostly because I only like temperatures between 66 and 82. On this January 7, 2008 in PITTSBURGH PENNSYLVANIA guess the 6:15 temperature. 57 degrees!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's 20 degrees above the average high for the day. Can I get a what what! Thanks G(od)! Represent for the cold homies! Glad we don't have that 11 feet of snow they have out west! I can't even fathom 3 feet of snow. 11 sounds not just implausible, but fake. 2 feet and I'm yawning and rolling back over. That's hide under the covers weather right there.
The throat ebola is still rockin hard except now it's moved to my nose. I was about to do a dance for the S.udafed 12-hr except I woke up with a disgusting cough that wouldn't stop for about a minute. That is a long time to cough! I'm such a horrid sick person. I gave y'all a break yesterday but I still feel like trash. I think I have a fever today. Where's X so she can tell me about all this stuff I took? I'ma need her to come out of hiding. I could always call poppa Stace since he's a pharmacist, too. And not even the street kind! I'm the walking dead right now after 4 hours of sleep. I will be going to urgent care today. Enough is enough! Sick be gone! Get thee behind me head/throat ebola!
"I love Rachael Ray. Isn't she wonderful?" MY DAD SAID THIS!! I do what I can to add to the conversion. We were watching "30 Minute Meals" the other day. He said he's gonna call up his g.f. and let her know he's leaving her for Rach. I said, "I'll call her for you." I'm so helpful!! He said, "I thought you liked her." "Not as much as Rachael Ray!!" Duh Dad. Out with the old, in with the new. New stepmommy I will welcome you with open arms. Now get in the kitchen! That's real love.
*I went to the doctor. Turns out I have a virus. No work tomorrow. Rest, fluids, C.laritin and a nasal spray. I. am. so. sleepy!!

Monday Mindspacing Vol. 26
1) The day after Thanksgiving. Wake up, eat some cinnamon toast crunch, then tell Rashan, "I'm going to take a nap."
Him: A nap!? You just woke up!
Me: (blank stare, thinking) an hour ago... or 2. Clearly Thanksgiving is about waking up to eat, going to sleep, then waking up again... someone should really tell him that...
2) Rashan fell asleep in literally 10 seconds the other day.
R: Alright baby. (Alright is our code for I'm bout to get off the phone.)
J: I love you.
R: (pause) ... I love you, too.
J: What took you so long to answer?
R: I fell asleep.
J: ROTFL!!!!!!!
3) Wanna know something I love about Rashan? That we can read crazy (and possibly salacious) news stories to each other for a good portion of our conversations. Very important for someone who reads the NYT slightly obsessively!
4) I had a crossaint with eggs, ham & brie the other day & the brie was AWESOME!! So yummy & gooey & melty. And the whole thing was HUGE! Wasn't expecting that at all!
5) I'm so glad Rashan's mom had wi-fi. Thanksgiving would've been a much sadder, more boring time. And however would I have made it through those awkward moments??? http://rashanjamal.blogspot.com/2009/11/i-once-had-awkward-moment-just-to-see.html
6) I don't understand the problem (mostly old) people have with people saying, "No problem!" It sounds cute and friendly to me but apparently people take it grouchily and respond, "Why would it be a problem?!?!" Stank.
7) My line sister called me the black Rachael Ray!! I LOVE HER!!! LOVE!!!!!
8) Dude. The sense of entitlement people have over the lives of celebrities SLAYS me!! Seriously? You don't DESERVE to know anything about why that man or that woman did whatever he or she did in the privacy of his or her home (or neighbor's yard). Why do you even care? Eye roll.
9) If I ever have a restaurant, I'm omitting canteloupe & honeydew from the fruit salad. I hate honeydew (flavorless) & canteloupe is too often not ripe enough
10) Rashan's mom added me on facebook........................ First my own mom... now my boyfriend's mom. I can at least be myself around MY mom!! Though Rashan was acting up and I was getting on him in front of his mom. Being myself. Our usual banter. He was shocked & I was like uhhhh... just because your mom's here I'm supposed to stand here and take your lip? #idontthinkso!! And she loved me for it! Lol. That does not mean I didn't edit myself yesterday b/c I knew she'd be reading. BOLLOCKS!!
11) I love garlic! When I have children I might bathe them in it. It will make me love them more.
12) I met a woman this weekend who after listening to her child and nieces and nephews run and scream around said, "Don't be in a rush to have children. I'm just saying. It's wonderful, but all consuming. It never stops." GOT IT! Lol.

Tag this
I have been tagged... here it is. The five things you never knew about me but always wanted to and didn't know how to ask.
1) I like funerals. I know it sounds strange but its closure for me. And I prefer to see the person lowered into the ground. When I was 6, my sister's best friend got hit by a car and died. Within the next 2 years, an uncle, my grandmother, grandfather and softball coach all died. So I was exposed to death very early. My mother explained it to me, bought books, the whole nine. I think it made me very well-adjusted (if i do say so myself lol) and a lot easier for me to deal with death. This year I attended one of the best funerals of my life. My fellow Hamptonian and Student Leader, 25-year-old Dr. Kenny Riddle died in a car accident in September. It was an inspiration to see how many he had touched in 25 years. It would not be an exaggeration to say there were at least 500 people there. Amazing. The music was amazing, and as he was a member of Tye Tribbett and Greater Annointing, I was introduced to their music. Walk tall Student Leaders just as tall as you can! You're the BEST student leaders in the whole blessed land!
2) I want to skip having children and go straight to being a grandma. I think that would be so cool. You don't have the child birth, terrible twos, dreadful teenage "I HATE YOU MOM!! YOU'RE RUINING MY LIFE!!" years, you know actual raising. And when the kids act up, you get to give them back. Nice. Anyone know how I can get on that plan? And I'm still going to have my grandkids call me "Grandma Dahling." They'll think my first name is Dahling. That's hilarious! Lololol. And then I'll sign things Love Dahling (your cool grandma).
3) I want a chef! A lady in my book club in Charlotte was married to a chef. A five-star chef at that. He used to cook for all the meetings hosted at their house. How great is that? Never having to cook? Can I get with that? How about Rachael Ray? Can I marry her? I know she's already married, but she's the best! I love her! She sooo taught me how to cook. And the whole not being a lesbian thing kinda gets in the way, too. How about if I just keep her in a little box and take her out when I'm hungry. Can I do that?
4) I'm going to rule the world. Maybe not the actual world, but a large portion of it. I just want to be that person that people aspire to be like. Like interns are scared to talk to me b/c I'm so larger than life. That's cool. But then they talk to me and they're like, "Jameil (can you believe she let me call her that?!) is really nice and down to earth and so successful" and I'll be like, yes, yes, go on. I'm certain I can run the world. And I can't wait!
5) I LOVE the AP wires. I tell you. Those things are addictive. I could read them everyday. When I'm at work, I do. There are the craziest stories on there. Plus, I love knowing all the inane facts of every story I write or hear on television and being able to correct things that aren't exactly accurate. That's so much fun! God bless the AP wires. I read them obsessively. I'm becoming known for that. Like, "If its on the wires, Jameil knows about it." Now that's hot.
Ok so now I'm supposed to tag 5 people, but my blog ring is so incestuous I don't even know that there is anyone left for me to tag... let's see... Elaina, Stacey, Michy-poo (the 3 I inspired to blog! whoo hoo!!), Karamale, and... Queen City Playa. If any of the aforementioned have already been tagged, please do not do this again. I don't need to know that much about you. Lolol. Just kidding guys... I guess. lololol

Monday Mindspacing Vol. II
1) Gluten allergies are weird to me. They seem fake. Like something created by the organic industry to scare already crazed parents into buy a $9 loaf of bread. How is it that in elementary school I knew a girl who was allergic to air... okay maybe not air but the list was outrageous: dairy, eggs, peanuts, almonds, brazil nuts, soybeans, broccoli, grass and on and on it went. That's not the exact list but even in my pre-food obsessed young years I remember staring open-mouthed and frightened for her asking, "What do you eat????" I guess at that point my mother should've known it was the beginning of the end.
2) I've never been a picky eater. That was my sister (and still is). I'm more aware of food possibilities now which makes me not want to waste them i.e. if I know I don't like scallops or iceberg lettuce, why bother continuing to eat them? That's a gross misuse of valuable stomach space that shouldn't be tolerated.
3) I am very bad at the summer vacation thing. Yes, I can be lazy with the rest of them and the best of them, but after a few days I'm ready for actual accomplishments and goal fulfillment. Summer is not hooking me up with that at all.
4) I used to love it but I now find magazine reading to be way too time consuming. If my GQ subscription wasn't free, I would cancel it like I did with InStyle. Rachael Ray's mag will never go as it helps me with cooking. I could do without the non-food-related stuff, but I love the recipe bonanza inside. Did you know she writes several recipes A DAY!?! WOW!! Even as a Rach lover that sounds crazy to me! Lol. But I wondered b/c though she doesn't come up with all the recipes in her mag, she has 30-minute meals and her talk show for which to also create content... better you than me and thank you so much!
5) Pretty sure the mag annoyance thing is securely centered around the fact that as much as I love reading books I haven't completed one in months. This is tantamount to treason for me. I feel book naked. I haven't had time between school and watching more than 300 movies in the last 6 months... yes that looks as crazy to me as it does to you.
6) As soon as I watch a movie everyone's seen I feel good about what I'm doing. It swings back around and slaps me in the face when I realize how many more fall into that category that I haven't seen and that so many more remain. I can't wait until I've watched 750 movies. This is like Blog365 but for aspiring filmmakers. I'm starting to hit a wall. The good thing is I'm quite far ahead so I can take a couple of days off if I want. I don't want to in a way though because I know next semester will get hectic. What a stupid conundrum. Lol.
7) I know this is a downer but one of the saddest sights is a pregnant girl in the trailer park. I hope her child has the best but it seems unlikely.
8) I hate when people give me unsolicited advice on how to manage my time. I write lists. I know what I need to accomplish for the day and when I want to accomplish it. I can be rigid about this-- my timeline. I'm sure you don't need to go back too far to find examples of this, likely the last time I was home. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE. We've had this conversation too many times for comfort which just increases my frustration when you do it anyway. Stop it. Stop saying, "Shouldn't you be doing this? I know you hate when I manage your time, but when are you going to do this? Don't forget you have to do this." STOP IT!!! I know you're trying to be helpful but if I don't ask you for it, for the nth time, please let me run my own life.
9) I react badly when I have to repeat myself. See the previous number. I feel myself getting increasingly enraged when I tell people something about myself multiple times and they continue to do whatever it is I've asked them not to do. It's not like these people are my enemies or subordinates. These are people I love. Can we work together on this? Ugh. I'm getting irritated just writing about this.
10) Real Simple. The magazine has some interesting things in it but some of the tips and articles are utterly boring to me and unnecessary. I want to like it more than I actually do. Maybe like Stace says, there are just TOO many tips. Across too many different topics. Oh well. Not like I really have time to take on a new magazine anyway. Mags feel so tedious to me now. I bought this one for organizing tips.
11) It's strange when you grow up and people you've known most of your life suddenly don't know how to act around you. It's mostly the men because they don't want to seem like pervs. I guess the 15-year gap in time since we last saw each other doesn't help, either.
12) O.D.T.A.U.T. That's the acronym I came up with for the kids I saw standing outside at JCSmith University's campus when I went to watch my sister's step practice. Overly Dedicated to a Useless Task. Dog. It's POURING rain out here and has been all day and you're steady out here watching the 4 cars on campus roll by. Stop it.
13) I don't like step shows. Ugh. I really really don't like them. I've been to too many. And once you've seen 5, you've seen them all. But I was forced to go this weekend b/c my sister was stepping.
2) I've never been a picky eater. That was my sister (and still is).

Monday Mindspacing Vol. 10
1) Why if so many people are right-handed are toilet flushers on the left?
2) I want to win this contest to go to the Rachael Ray show all-expense paid. Rashan said, "I think you better let Stace enter for you." Lololol. I entered, now Stace, here is your reminder.
3) Sony is too free with the label, "Sony Pictures Classics." Everything can't be a classic just because it will one day be old. Stop tarnishing the term classic.
4) Some filmmakers ought not to think so highly of themselves that they are deserving of someone spending 2 hours of their life watching their films. I know I have a way to go and need to pay my dues before I can really think people will do that (I will be amazed the day I decide to make a 2 hour film, I will also laugh). I don't think everyone has that idea.
5) Watching this film set in the 1920s makes me know overalls should NEVER come back in fashion. Ew. But I have a feeling they will.
6) I hate watching video on print (i.e. mags & newspapers) sites. They're offensive to my broadcast journalism teaching. Plus though I love some parts of convergence (blurring of the lines b/t print & broadcast, news sharing), there is no match in print. If I want to see video, I'm not going to the NYT, likewise if I want to read a good article, I'm not going to CNN. They get the job done and I have enough details. I go to them when I want it quick and fast (yes both).
7) I'm remembering a downside to sharing a bathroom with my sister: soggy bath mats. Ugh. Can't stand it.
8) Sometimes when Rashan and I are fighting (or I'm fussing about something he's nearly invariably baffled about) I get this overwhelming urge to giggle. So I (usually) give in and giggle. Fighting is such a strong word for any sort of spat we have. He's so gentle with me whenever he has to say something he thinks/knows I won't like. It's really cute. We generally get along quite nicely. Always a plus.
9) The first time I heard of the red hat society I wanted to join one. You know I love hats. I think I have to wait about 40 years to be eligible. So maybe I'll start a rival hat color society. AND WHAT!!!
10) It irritates me that I always want Chickfila on Sunday. So cliche.
11) Night gowns are awful contraptions. They're usually ugly AND talk about uncomfortable. Who would want to fall asleep in a dress unless on accident. You wake up because you're lying on a pile of fabric and it's uncomfortable.
12) I like internet smiley faces without noses. The noses look stupid to me. :) is much better than :-). I like the angry face and that needs a nose unfortunately. >-\ is hilarious.
13) Me, my mom and sister have similar cheese preferences. We hate Kraft singles and American cheese. Give us cheddar or give us death. Cheddar is my most normal request. I love cheese so I'm more than willing to try a lot of them.
14) What's the magic number for these mindspacing posts? I feel like 13 is max and I went over it only for this question.

Feelin Kinda Warm
No, it is not that warm here. Its not that cold either, but I feel like whining because I know what's coming. Y'all know how I feel about winter and ugly winter clothes. Feelin kinda warm is a line from a Luda song. Miguel/Peabo, whatever he's calling himself now said I needed to listen to it. I haven't been too impressed w/Luda's last two cds. Matter of fact, I liked the first one. The 2nd was ok. Chicken and Beer I was lukewarm about. Red Light District and whatever the name of the last one was, I didn't even buy. Or maybe I bought Red Light District. Damn maybe that was the last one. Anyway I think I bought one after Chicken and Beer and was less than impressed and bought the next one, then said you know what, I'm not going to keep spending money on his less than stellar products. He's gonna have to wow me before I drop them dollas.
That being said... wait a minute. It just struck me the different tone this blog is taking on. It's becoming a food/music review and randomness that is I blog. Which is ok. I just realized it. Its kind of fun. I'm becoming quite addicted to blogging. I just like to write endlessly and get some feedback, commiseration, what have you. And I love that reading other people's stuff inspires me to write some myself. Quite fun.
Anyway back to what I was saying, Peabo said he didn't really like the previous albums, so I thought hmm.. maybe. But first, AOL Music. I'm tryna toldya. AOL Music is that jump off. First of all you can listen to the newest cds IN THEIR ENTIRETY for free. Then AOL Radio keeps me connected to the south when I need it and also has WPGC which isn't as fun to listen to not in DC and when you can listen to commercial free radio stations. But on Saturdays, WPGC has the perfect clean the house crunk music.
I've decided I will never listen to another cd w/o first previewing it on AOL. For what? AOL saved me from Beyonce. Hahahahaha. And made me buy Justin which I can't stop listening to. Then Lupe Fiasco. Of course people told me about Lupe. The bf has been going on and on non-stop b/c one of his boys had a preview copy for months. He's been stalking me about buying this cd and he usually only does that with people from VA. (vomit)
Luda has this hilarious song called "Slap" that's gonna make me buy this just so I can listen to it on my daddy's bangin surround sound w/4 speakers and a 10. Oh yeah! Excerpt, "I feel like slappin somebody today (slap slap!)" See why I need the surround? The slap slap would reverberate off the walls. "Girls Gone Wild" (despite its title) and "Ultimate" are OFF the chain. And not just those disgustingly hot beats. Take back ya crown.
Hey! Guess what guys! Tomorrow's my one-year bloggiversary! :D Aren't you excited?! I would like to thank E.Hill and Jamar for inspiring me to blog though neither of them bother to anymore. Your purpose was to get me to bloggin! And by off shoot, my l.s., sister, and four friends including Ashli and Stace! :D
Today is day one of my three-day weekend. Yay! Its 9:42 and I've been up since 430a. Can't help it. Went to bed at 7 last night after being up forever (and a day). So today I am preparing myself for my MOMMY AND MY SISTER COMING TO VISIT!!!! I'm soooo excited. I've seen my mommy ONCE in the nearly 15 months I've been here and that was in April. Momm-eeeeee!! Can't wait. But when I say that, my sister gets jealous and asks, what about me?? Sigh. Yes little girl I'm excited about seeing you too. Its different with mommies. Duh. But she's never gone more than a month, if that w/o seeing mommy.
I'm supposed to go out with work homies again tonight but I don't think I want to. Daddy's out of town which means I have the crib to myself. I'd like to enjoy it. And OH YEAH!!! A new episode of Project Runway!!!! I can't wait! GO MICHAEL KNIGHT!! Isaac doesn't start with the new shows until Dec 5th! Hurry up!!!!!!
Finished Luda, now on to Janet's 20 y.o. So sad this has no hype at all. I've heard no one say, I just HAVE to have Janet's latest when it drops. That being said, I WILL want to watch her on the Today Show Friday in hopes she'll do some of her old stuff. So far, I like this first song, "So Excited." Let's hope its not the only one I like. 16 tracks including intro and outro, and only 50 minutes. Sigh. WHY IS IT SO HARD FOR ARTISTS TO PRODUCE AN ALBUM AN HOUR LONG?!! WHY IS THAT SO MUCH TO ASK?!!! I DON'T WANT TO BE ABLE TO LISTEN TO YOUR ENTIRE ALBUM ON MY DRIVE TO AND FROM WORK!! This cd is very pop-y. I don't think that's really what I want from her. I don't know what I want from her other than for her to evolve. This cd actually isn't bad, though, despite my reservations. Sigh. Damn you AOL. But I don't HAVE to have this cd. I think mostly b/c I'm tired of buying cds. Its like every week I'm in Target and Best Buy fighting with the teeny boppers.
Sidenote: WHO on my buddy list has an icon that screams 50 cent's Magic Stick? Because I don't like you right now. It keeps yelling, which is distracting number one, and number 2 pisses me off b/c I can't stand that over-swelled bullet head.
Guess who cooked before she went to work yesterday? Oh yeah! Its me! I made the Black Bean Stoup with corn cakes courtesy of Rachael Ray (of course) I told you about. I took some to work and my co-workers were raving over the deliciousnessocity! Yay!! I couldn't make my chicken cacciatore stoup b/c of the spinach scare!!! Y'all know how I feel about my spinach!! I love baby spinach leaves!! **TEARS!! SCREAMING WHYYYYYY!! PULLING HAIR!!** And they're saying you can substitute w/arugula!!! ARUGULA?!! Every foodie worth her salt knows arugula looks like A WEED and has a peppery bite. NOT THE SAME. And I don't want to use canned or frozen spinach because I like fresh ingredients. I don't care what you say Best Week Ever!!! Come back to me spinach!! I love you!!!

Daddy Daughter
After last night, we have one more left in Pittsburgh. Isn't that crazy!? Last night we went to McCormick & Schmick's. I had a delicious Bellini (peach puree and sparkling wine) to drink. For an appetizer we had black mussels simmered in a white wine, garlic and tomato sauce. I don't think I'd ever had mussels before but I liked them. I knew from watching Rachael Ray (she rocks!!) you shouldn't eat mussels that haven't opened after they're cooked. There was one on our plate and I told my dad not to eat it. He didn't like that. Lol. He gave me the last mussel because, "I want to play with this one." He says, "What's wrong with you? Why won't you open?" Hahahahahaha. I was cracking up. Then he told the waitress she cheated us out of one. Hilarity.
Anyway here's a picture of me and my dad on our 2nd to last Daddy Daughter day! Next week we should go somewhere else fun. I'm thinking Tusca. One of my coworkers loves it and people were pouring out of it last night so it must be good. My dad told me you should never go to a restaurant with an empty parking lot. No one there so it's probably not that good and the food won't be fresh because they don't have enough business. These are his theories which I've tested only a few times and he was usually affirmed. But I'm gonna miss this place when I leave with the avocado and pico de gallo on the burger. You know I look for Mexican where ever I can find it. I had Mexican last week, right? I was thinking about the churros yesterday morning! They were off the chain! I love churros, man. Oh churros, baby, me and you! ME AND YOU!! Sorry I got distracted. Me & D! One more Daddy Daughter day in the Burgh. And he just brought me a paper towel full of potato chips. I knew you loved me!!
For dinner I had swordfish with a sun-dried tomato and caper butter. I'd never had a caper prior to my food network obsession, either. I like them. The salty brine gives me some joy. You know I'm a savory girl. I don't get all crazy over chocolate (remember this conversation? My daddy just said, "Chocolate tortilla chips?" "No, D, blue corn tortilla chips." Lol. He was already eating them. If I thought I saw some chocolate tortilla chips, I'd put on the ill grill and quickly remove myself from the vicinity. I'm already not that much of a choc fan and I'm pretty sure that would knock me right into the I don't like chocolate category. Hahahaha!!) Also not crazy over cake.
Look at what a search for fries yields. Shameful! Hahahahaha!! I realized the other day that I had fries 3xs one day this week, 2xs the two days prior to that. So I didn't eat any yesterday to balance it out... but I'm about to eat some again. Don't stick a fry in my face unless you don't want it. I don't know what it is about fries that makes me crazy. I have had an offer to watch When Harry Met Sally (one of my all-time fave movies!!! I quote it incessantly.) and eat fries. I swooned a little bit... lolol.
I fell asleep on the phone last night. I don't think I've ever done that before. I woke up and woke Rashan up fully intending to hold an actual conversation again. I think we exchanged maybe 10 words and fell back asleep. I woke up again at 6 with the phone pressed to my ear. HILARIOUS!!
Have I told you lately how much I love Jon & Kate + 8? Even after an hour I never want it to be over. Ever. I could just watch them online all day. They crack me up!! I've always wanted to have twins (since I was like 9... this is one of those incredibly odd things about me I'll go into further detail about later) so Maddy & Cara are my faves. Oh yes and before y'all get all crazy as you bloggers are wont to do: I CAN TALK ABOUT CHILDREN WITHOUT WANTING THEM RIGHT THIS SECOND SO CALM DOWN!! Crazies.

This is Life
Sometimes it's really, really boring. But some interesting things have happened to me this week. First, well, I guess this is really from last week, since it was Saturday. Remember that last post about me getting lost because they shut down portions of the highway YES ALL LANES (?!?!) EVERY weekend? Well because they shut down the same portions or similar portions, every weekend, in either direction, I've become quite accustomed to my detour and started to smell myself a little. I'm like HEY! I know where I'm going! I'm gonna learn this city if it kills me!!
Yeah... not so much. Last weekend they shut down an additional exit. WHAT!?!? And not only was the exit shut down, but the detour signs were trash. That meant I drove in a big circle and found myself in the same place I was 30 MINUTES PREVIOUS!! I just had to get out of the car before I started hollerin. Not yelling, not screaming. HOLLERIN!! So I stopped at a restaurant in Squirrel Hill (can't escape this place with the detours) called The Bagel Factory... but I don't like bagels. But it was around 7:30am so there wasn't much open. And I'd told myself before I left if I got lost, I would stop somewhere for breakfast that I'd never been before and that is unique to Pittsburgh.
I liked their menu even without the bagels. I got a Greek omelette with carmelized onions, tomatoes, spinach and feta cheese. It came with potato wedges. SO YUMMY!! And I had to leave some on the plate because it was HUGE!! 3 egg omelettes are the norm now. I forgot I have to ask for my omelettes with 2 eggs. I cannot eat all that egg especially when there's other deliciousness on my plate. (Do not assail me for not eating a bagel and at the Bagel Factory!! I don't need all that bread in my life! Lol) See what the joy of discovery and adventure does for you?
Sunday, I took a different route, this time along Route 28. I took it out for years and years and WITHOUT so much as a YES THIS IS THE RIGHT WAY from PENNdot (I need to file a complaint. It should not be this hard to find my way home), or a single wrong turn, I MADE IT HOME!!! May I tell you I don't think I've ever been so proud of myself?? It was fantastic! I had grand plans to go to church... but once I got home, I sat down and ate and didn't want to move. I turned on Dr. Charles Stanley, though and he HOOKED ME UP!! He's very down to earth and gives it to you straight. I love it.
Monday was cookie day at work, but most people were just bringing desserts. I really wish I'd taken a picture of my handiwork because it was GORGEOUS!! I took the angel food cake dessert shells you get at the grocery store, filled them with whipped cream, topped them with blueberries and a slice of strawberry. My coworkers were all in awe and I heard they were delicious. Another thing I don't eat... blueberries. What? I bought them because they were blue and I was doing a red, white and blue thing. Color is very big for me. My friend Mor used to laugh at me because when I would go out at night (minimum 2xs a week, sometimes up to 4xs in college), I would have color schemes for my outfits. Once she pointed it out, I noticed and it cracked me up! So funny. One thing I really like to do is have a pop of color.
This is what I wore for 4th of July when I went to lunch with a co-worker and a former co-worker at Claddaugh Irish Pub. I just topped it with a black shirt. Get it? Pop of color. The red shoes. It works with neutral outfits. For lunch I had a meatloaf sandwich and a Sam Adams Summer Ale. Very yummy beer.
Back to this week. Sunday afternoon I also made whole wheat spaghetti with a ground turkey meat sauce... muy yumm-o!!! And I just made up the recipe based on your average spaghetti recipe. A few weeks ago I made chiptole turkey burgers and gave the recipe to one of my coworkers. She made them and LOVED them. I got it from my home girl Rachael Ray. Monday was very uneventful. Tuesday I went to the gym after work, then tried to go to a noon bible study. I get there and see hearses out front but there are still various and sundry people milling about outside. I ask a woman out front but she doesn't know anything about bible study so I ask a woman in the kitchen. She tells me there's no bible study because of the summer. WHAT?!?!? Let me find out we get summer Jesus breaks. Nonsense. I was more annoyed because I'd driven over there for no reason since I'd been on the website that morning and since and saw nothing about noon bible study being cancelled that day or any other. You know I'll be making a phone call to the chu'ch to find out why. That was my one chance to go this month. The rest of the month I'm producing the noon show on Tuesdays.
Oh well. I decide that day I'm going to find the Christian bookstore because obviously it will be a struggle for me to get to a church. I'm not going to stop trying but I see I'm going to have to take some of my instruction into my own hands. Wednesday after work I find the bookstore (again having to make too many phone calls because there are no signs from the road). I need Pittsburgh to work with me. For real. Right now they are TRIPPIN!! There are no signs anywhere or they are the most confusing things ever if they exist. Yesterday I saw 2 signs for the parkway right next to each other. One pointed up and left, the other pointed down and left. Right next to each other. Why? One sign will suffice if you're going in the same direction, right?!?! Why confuse people? Foolishness!!
So at the bookstore I bought Tye Tribbet's latest. There was a shout-out to Kenny on one of the songs, so that's really cool. I also bought a mixed cd and 4 books. I went a bit mad. But I figure since I do that when I go to the regular bookstore and Target, no need to stop now! Lol. One of the books is the Women's Devotional Guide to the Bible. I talked to my mom this morning about my purchases and where I am in my life. She is so helpful to me. It's great to have a mom who can help you and who is there for you. With her help and Wynel, I'm growing every day.
Yesterday the new Chick-Fil-A opened just a few miles from my house!!! Yay!! There are free-standing Chick-Fil-As everywhere at home. Here they were mostly at the mall until the last year or so. Now they're starting to pop up everywhere. Hurray! So I went there for breakfast. I got a chicken biscuit, oj, and hash rounds. Then I headed to the park to walk. I was really enjoying being in the sun because it wasn't too hot. I attacked some of those hills, too. I made sure not to run down them backwards!!! Then I came home, read some more, took a nap. My dad and I went to Uno's for Daddy-Daughter night. We got a half pepperoni pizza with half mushroom and spinach pizza. Yummy. My only beef was that the mushrooms weren't at all cut. Just giant mushrooms sitting atop the cheese. It made them a bit unwieldly as they bobbled all over creation. Can I get that cut in half if you don't do the slice thing? Just a thought.
Then we went to see Transformers. Not my kind of movie. It was kind of interesting and could bring out the kid in you. I was annoyed by the length. I really don't think any movie should be 2 hours long. 2 hours is dragging and dragging. Just get to it. Especially because if you watch enough movies, you can guess the end about 20 to 30 minutes in. So just get to it. Comedies are the worst past 90 minutes. You just sit there like ENOUGH!! Plus I get annoyed with action movies that have to have some sort of love story. The love interest in this movie is not a good actress. And I was irritated by her breasts pushed up to the heavens in every scene. Is that really necessary for us to understand she's supposed to be the "hot" girl everyone wants? I wondered while watching the movie if she was annoyed by her costuming. This is why you don't want to go to a movie with me. I'm analyzing things totally unrelated to the plot in addition to the plot. Thinking too much? Maybe. But it's who I am. I won't ruin your movie experience unless you want me to, but if you ask, trust, I'll let you know!
Yeah... not so much.
