#26: Go To An Opera

Since I'd never been to an opera, for my 30 Before 30 list, I decided the time is NOW!  I thought I would be going to one in Charlotte but I found an opera right here in Winston.  Then I saw a Groupon for a show and it was kismet.  Rashan and I went to see "Il Trovatore" about a girl torn between the rich man who loves her (in whom she has no interest) and the poor man she loves.

Verdict?  Really not that great.  My mom says I need to go to a show with a big name.  I'm willing to give opera another shot... but not in the next week... maybe not in the next month or few months.  Know what I want next?  Salsa lessons, then "The Nutcracker"!!!!  Yay!!!  Here are a few more pics of us on our adventure.

Awww, I've always *kinda* wanted to go to an opera. There's something that interests me at the same time there's something that makes me think I'd be annoyed by all the singing, lol. But I still want to try it, at least once!

I'm sure there's one going on in San Francisco somewhere. You've inspired me to try it!

What wasn't awesome? The opera? Location? Other attendees?

Wow. Opera. Imma have to let you have that one. Sorry you didn't like it. You should definitely try a bigger name.

First off you two look very nice!!!! That dress is gorgeous!!!!!!! I too agree you need a more well known opera like...

Pirates of Penzance, Carmen, La bohème, Madame Butterfly or Romeo and Juliet.

Looking good!! Oh man, sorry that you didn't love it! I've only been to one - La Boheme and I saw it on Broadway. I have nothing else to compare it to, but it was one of the best experiences I've ever had. I'd gladly go another opera. I hope ya'll give it another try. You guys should do a weekend trip to NYC. =)

I've been to a few operas and the best one hands down was madam butterfly. I hope you give the opera another chance.

Oh, and that dress is hot!! I love the head band pairing with it too. Your hair is growing so nicely

Congrats on crossing that off your to-do list and looking cute while doing so!

Having said that? I really can't deal with opera. I've been a few times and have finally decided, if it don't fit...

Jelisa... LOL! If you like musicals you should be fine. I think once is a good start AND SF has to be a great city to make that happen!!

adei... I could care less about the other attendees. The location was beautiful. The singing wasn't that great. Like you didn't QUITE hit that note. Or that isn't EXACTLY in the right key.

k... lololol.

gp... thanks! my mom meant bigger name singer.

rj... 1) i didn't say this didn't count. 2) you don't have to go. i'll go with mom.

mrs.tdj... thanks! on Broadway is so necessary!! oh man!

fav... that's mom's favorite!

nsa... i'll definitely give it another chance but i'ma need a minute. lol. thanks!!!

go... yay! thanks! i say give it a try. you're near enough to big cities to get something good near you.

nerd... thanks! i feel you on fit. i think maybe 2 more times (if the next goes well) until i know for certain.

red... thanks! :)

Ok, first you look GORGEOUS!!!! Love that dress girl. Yall look so sweet.

I'm not a fan of the opera, but I'm glad you got a chance to experience something you hadn't. Now you can cross that off your list.
