PUABBS

WE the undersigned hereby state we are taking a STAND against this abomination. We are NOT going to take it anymore. Your plotless, shucking and jiving, fried chicken-eating, neck rolling, big mama, never met my daddy, my momma's on crack and my brother's in jail movies. That's right. We are PUABBS. People United Against Bad Black Scripts. We shall stop you, T.ylerPerry, and your cohorts making movies like "M.adea'sClassReunion," "The C.ookout," "M.alibooty," "So.ulPlane," "B.aps," "W.oo," "K.ingdomCome," and just about everything on BET's B.lackStarPower and B.lackbusterMovies. We henceforth unite against black tomfoolery.

Hey! Back up off the Tyler Perry. And BAPS!!! I liked that tomfoolery!!!

Besides, who the hell else black we gonna laugh at?

And you forgot to mention The Wash. Now THAT was a bad script!

Let's not forget to add "Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins!"

I didn't even see the movie, but if it has the name "Roscoe" in it then it CAN'T be good.

And that "Family Reunion" movie with Cedric the Entertainer. Yeah. That one.

Maybe ANY movie with Cedric the Entertainer.

Where can I sign this one? For real, I try to like black movies, but they are just so wack a lot of the times. Let's go ahead and have a moratorium on the bad black scripts..

You didn't put soul food on there. How you just gone eat all that food when your mom died from it? And all the drama! Ugh!

I'm racist against movies.

PUABBS

Ugly name, awesome group.

Roscoe Jenkins was horrible, black slapstick that will never cease to be humorous to simple people.

TEB is soooooo bad! They don't even show the few good black movies! Like...

*scratching head*

Lion King? I mean, it was shot in Africa and all...

I am so down for this cause. I can't remember the last time I saw a black movie and thought, "Wow that was SO good." (except maybe Miracle at St Anna, but it's Spike so...)

I recognize that there is a market for Tyler Perry just because there is such a dirth of black people anywhere in entertainment, but you mean to tell me that he would be as wildly popular if some of the writers and directors who are actually very talented were in the game he would be? I doubt that seriously.

I am down for the cause as well, but I must admit, I actually liked "Soul Plane"

@ Mau: Leave Cedric alone. The Barbershop movies and Cadillac Records were good movies.

@Organized Noise

I'll give Cedric a Pass for the Barbershop movies, EVEN though his character was...caricatureish at best. It'd have been a different story if he was just playing a dude his real age who was a barber.

That being said, Beyonce as Ella James is a bit hard to swallow, and Cedric is guilty by association there. No trial necessary.

LOL@ Joy...I never thought of Soul Food like that, but that makes sense.
