Annoying Things

1) To be yawning in church at 12:45 in the afternoon. Not because it's necessarily boring, but because I've been up and actively using my brain for more than 12 hours.

2) To be sleepy at 4:16 p.m.

3) To CHASTIZE myself for being up past 5 p.m.

4) To only see 4 a.m. because I'm either at work or waking up from falling asleep before 7 the previous night.

Notice a pattern? I can't stand(!!!!!!!) my current sleep pattern. Ask my parents. I've been a night owl my entire life. My dad and my godmother used to sit up with me all night. My dad would still do it if I ever didn't work weekends. My mom? Not so much. I like going to bed at 4 in the morning and waking up after 10:30. And 10:30 a.m. has always been early to me. Now I wake up before 5 a.m. on my days off. If you had told me this at any point in my life prior to moving here I would not only have laughed in your face, but probably punched you! Lol. I kid! 8 a.m. was a bad word! I also got into the habit in college of not leaving the house to go out before 11 p.m. Love it. My mom was not so in love with this schedule when I moved back home for a little more than a year after graduation. It worked for me, though! Lol. I know she was glad when I left. But now she misses me! And I miss her, too. I LOVE YOU MOMMY! :)

I overdid it on the lack of sleep yesterday. If I'm yawning already, I'll be comatose by noon-- almost 12 hours later. I think that's a no on church today. I assumed it would be considering how I felt when I woke up. I'll definitely be in bible study on Tuesday. I like that better anyway. Get to the point. Sometimes the singing seems to drag on indefinitely. Y'all know I can be all about the sound bite of life.

*We sang the Negro National Anthem at church last Sunday and I was positively glowing! Yay! I looove that song. I immediately thought, I need to also sing the alma mater and sorority hymn when I leave! All of those make me so happy.

I can totally sympathize with you. When I worked 2nd shift, my sleep pattern was awful.

you hate your sleep schedule. i hate my job. can we switch?

btw, james weldon johnson and his brother rosemond, composers of the negro national anthem ("lift every voice and sing" for those unfamiliar) were from my hometown of jacksonville, flawda.

BLACK FACTS! (said like mary catherine gallagher when she says "supastah"!)

I got a warm-fuzzy feeling from: 1) your mention of the Negro National Anthem; 2) Sorority songs; and 3) that beverage that doubles as your profile avator. *Shiver and licks lips*

I hope you have time for a nap, or whatever might mend your sleepies.

Also, I have an award waiting for you over at my place. :-)

Hey. I popped on over from Sparkling Reds place.

Wow. I've been a night owl my whole life, and I still am. This, however, proves that it is possible to change...

...not that I really want that - but getting more than 4 hours of sleep on average would be nice ;)

Nice blog.

Not quite sure how you operate with that sleeping pattern. but hey, gotta pay the bills.

I thought you could always sleep? I feel you on the switching... I worked 3 completely different schedules in 6 days this week and my sleep pattern was all jacked up.

I like Bible study, but I don't like that one person that always seems to try to dominate the discussion with facts that are not in the bible and gets mad when I ask what passage they are referring to.

Oh yeah, I forgot to comment on your voice. You sound exactly like I thought you would. That's weird.

I heard recently that the pattern of sleeping in the evening and then in the morning is pretty natural. It's called segmented sleep. Obviously it was invented wa-ay before the invention of the 9-5 workday...

I feel your pain. Been there done that...then I quit. Hope your get some rest. Or someone on a better shift leaves so you can take their place ;)

Funky... for a while i was okay but i'm getting to that point where i'm like GET ME OFF OF THIS THING!!

rj... see previous response. yeah... i was straight for a while but i'm getting restless. i'm tired of sleeping in the middle of the day. i have 2 different schedules every week. not vastly different but different enough. its garbage.

questions are only allowed after bible study which is cool with me. he will nip it in the bud if you're too off topic which is hilarious. or if he thinks its not helping everyone else he'll be like see me afterwards. i will DEF. ask people to reference that w/scripture. i don't wanna hear what you think. i wanna know what God thinks.

do i really? i wouldn't have thought i sounded like you thought i would. i heard your voice on diva's blog. it wasn't what i thought but fit your face.

mem... i would love some good 15 hour sleep. that's what i need right about now. that drink wasn't as good as it looks.

m.e... crappy sleep patterns.

aurora... yeah we're trained to sleep when it's dark. hence the reasons our bodies go nuts when knocked off the circadian rhythm.

sandy... cheers to people quitting!!

cnel... lmao @ blog nightcaps. too funny.

Girl, get some sleep!!!

I love "Lift Every Voice and Sing" SO much! I always wished I could sing so that I could belt it out at the start of Ebony Fashion Fair. Oh well!

And I tagged you so come see!

i love that your profile pic is now a colorful yet alcoholic bev. very you.

girl i am always tired!!! its the worst! but you gotta grind now, and when youre doing what you dreamed of you can look back on today and sigh in relief.

I don't know how you do it...I guess because you have to, but I would be sooooooooo cranky and that's an understatement.

I can get super bitchy even after catching up on some zzzzzzz's, but when my sleep pattern is tested, the super bitch in me is definitely on the war path.

Unless of course it's thrown off for good reason! heh heh

minerva... its ok! lolol

liz... that song is fantastic!!!!

joy... aww! thx! i love when people say things are so me! its fabulous! i know its all preparation for something bigger but its making me weary!!

diva... girl. jacked up sleep patterns are THE WORST!! i def. do it because i have to. if i had a choice though, now that my schedule is shot to hades and i've done it for 2.5 years, i don't even know how i would make my schedule. i def. like not having to fight crowds because everyone's at work but not having a nightlife is for the birds... or the elderly. and i'm neither.

I think your schedule sucks. I don't know how you do it. Really. I think it's part of the job... but...
