The following actually appeared in an editorial by the daily student newspaper on campus which has become increasingly irritating. I'm sure you'll understand why.
"During last week’s Student Government elections, student voters overwhelmingly rejected the referendum to install hand scanners at Southwest Recreation Center. OK, they did more than reject the referendum. An 84 percent supermajority verbally scolded the hand scanners in front of their parents and b****slapped the taste out of the scanners’ mouths, all while peeing on the scanners’ rug."
Really? You do or don't want jobs and respect?

Where do they intend to get professional work? Starting a sentence with "ok"? That wack, drawn out metaphor? Cursing on wax? Really? Boo!
Was this a late April Fools joke lol WOW
I can't believe that said B*&^%slapped lol and pissed what the devil
Uhm...what? that is a mess!
wow...hard to believe the editor let that go to print.
I think even children would have had better sense than to include that last line...sounds like this was written by idiots!
Not really my taste, but considering the audience they are writing for, it seems okay to me. They are using the language of their readers.
ditto rashan
WPs.
ok- this is my second 'what the f...' read of the day.... my father would slap my tongue clean out my mouth if i slightly acted in such a manner... and i hope this was just one demonstration of this reporter's journalistic abilities
One word and one word only "WoW."
I hope none of my student numbers are party to the wack ass "journalism", used loosely.
The Alligator has always had some type of drama going on because they leave these kids in charge because its independent but in the end...is that really what you want known as your student paper you have to ask yourself!!! I loved it when I was there but towards the end of my senior year...I was like enough is enough! **Says the History Major**
Yikes. Somewhere out there, an English teacher is wondering where they went wrong.
I'm with Ms. Honey - this must be a late april fool's joke.
From the Alligator? For real?
ew. Just ew.
joy... seriously this is just one example of MANY. they always do drawn out metaphors. it's so ridiuclous.
ms.honey... oh how i wish. hot mess.
sha... right??? we thought our campus newspaper needed some work. at least they were attempting professionalism!
diva... seriously. it makes me want to know who the editor is. you would think children would have more sense.
rj... i don't think you have to be vulgar to prove you're in college. the language is even questionable for an alternative weekly. this is supposed to be the serious paper. this is a prominent university w/a top 10 j-school. the paper should be representative of that. you know when you have visitors and writers who come they're looking at that. i wouldn't want someone judging me based on the paper I write in if it was a paper like that.
adei... to continue, they're trying to accumulate clips so they can work and get internships. You can't use those things as your clips. and prospective employers will look at how professionaly your paper is put together. you're supposed to treat it like a real job.
desy... it's multiple people.
cnel... read the rule above the comment box s'il vous plait.
ck... EXACTLY. is that how you want to be known. children.
momisodes... and journalism prof too.
dtw... sigh.
nobody... yeah.
