Thanks Dad

He stood me up. I went to sleep, woke up to cook and when I come downstairs, he says "I don't feel like dealing with it today." Wait. We have an opportunity to participate in an historic campaign and YOU BACK OUT?? BOOOOOOOOO, D! BOOOOOO! I thought about backing out since I'm giving up sleep. Then I said to myself, "Self, you give up sleep for a number of other things and go places alone on a regular basis, why not for Rocky?" You can sit home alone, D.

Rick on the road? Not a fan. I never paid him any attention but have you ever tried to watch tv at 2 a.m. on a Sunday? It's not pretty. I flip over to CNN and what is your boy obnoxiously asking the mayor of Philly on the street? "How are you, a black man, not supporting the black candidate?!?!" Now we all know I think everyone should support Rocky. But to say you should only support him because he's black is LUDICROUS!! That's why there is a democratic process. So anyone can support anyone they want. As a H.ispanic, I'm sure you support Richardson, right? I mean you speak Spanish. If all black people are to support Rocky, and all women are to support Billary, WHAT AM I TO DO AS A BLACK WOMAN!??! I'M SO (not) TORN!!! You're a jerk, Rick. And so very, very out of touch. Your insinuation is not only out of line but offensive. Go sit down.

Did you see what Robin Roberts did this morning? De-wigged on television, post-chemo. SHE'S AWESOME!! And she looks great. We all know how attached women are to their hair. Particularly black women. Cutting our hair takes amazing feats of strength. It's a gutsy move and I applaud her. Rock on Robin!

I've been a Robin Roberts fan since she was hosting SportsCenter on Sunday mornings with Bob Ley, and she has been such a frickin' inspiration in her fight against cancer. Her de-wigging is awesome, and I hope she keeps on fighting the good fight. And yeah, down with D for backing out! Obama '08, pops!

Wow...I just finished watching the clip. That's a gutsy broad. It is JUST hair, but cutting it all off is not an easy decision. Especially in her position.

Kudos to her.

Aww @ your Dad. He must be really tired.

Your post reminds me of when my kids were really little and we lived in San Francisco and my husband took them downtown to see Dukakis speak. We lost, but it's a good memory for the kids. But it is easy to back out of that kind of thing when you're tired. When Obama was in town last fall, we learned we'd have to leave work early and stand in line for a couple of hours (or more) and still maybe not get in. So we decided not to go. Maybe that means the Dems will win this time around. Am I using logic here?

rick. go sit down. that was very offensive. leave it to CNN to do that though. ask him if he eats arroz con pollo and see if he likes that.

pops must be beat. you know our parents can't get down the way we do! he's been on his feet waaaaay longer than we have! tell Ba-Rack (Ba Ba Ba Rack, pronounced like how Rocafella Records does their thing)

I'm looking for you on the tv! Lol. I can't believe dad doesn't wanna see Barack. Boo dad. Get up. When he was here for the SCLC, I said that if he came in the gift shop, I'd flirt with him. (all I got was a far off view of Jesse Jackson) Now I think I'd be to awestruck and also afraid of Michelle.

Sorry Dad flaked on you...I've been waiting for Robin to take it off...every morning I ask myself why won't she take it off and give some confidence to the many women who are watching...CNN can be "fair and balanced" sometimes if you get my pun...ps. I was originally a Journalism major in undergrad...I just couldn't hang with the deadlines and demands.

Rick is annoying.

I do however think he prefaced his question before or after that, by asking if as the mayor of a predominantly African American city he was afraid of the political repercussions. I understand that people are saying its outrageous to base just on race, but people aren't admitting for some people that will be the only factor.

Robin is great. I met her once and was very impressed.

She is amazing! You are so right about cutting hair being difficult. I attest to being a big wuss about just a trim.
So sorry your dad backed out, he must have been exhausted :(

I watched it and literally burst into tears and started clapping. How brave of her. I've watched people lose their hair, and especially as fantatical as I am about mine, I always wonder if I could do it. She did it with grace and style. And she looks fantastic

joy... he's awful! you know i love shelly! i'd be a stan for them both.

ck... yeah doing something you don't care about makes the demands unreasonable. robin is fab. i'm gonna keep saying that.

mp... she looks super fab! i stood up in the newsroom and announced that right after she de-wigged.

cnel... i dont' care the preface or the follow-up. you don't ask an elected official that. lots of people have stupid reasons for supporting candidates and some of them are just b/c he's black or young or b/c she's a woman or white or old-esque. but the racial overtones of this election are way past out of control and he was out of line for asking that like nutter wouldn't have a good answer. there is NO EXCUSE.

too many journalists are acting like that's the only factor. like all black people are behind him now and have been there since day one. FALSE. a lot didn't go to his side until they thought he could win. so the assumption that all or even most black people just like him b/c he's black is ludicrous.

sandy... he wasn't tired. he was sitting around the house watching tv. robin rocks!!

pcd... wheeeee!!

la... i def. got a bit misty and felt SO proud. she rocks.

So you had me scanning the crowd for nothing? *shakes my fist at you*

go for Robin Roberts! and i'm sick and tired of morons insinuating that African Americans MUST vote for someone based on skin color. maybe because they do, huh?

joy... noooooooo! stop shaking your fist!

bg... IGNORANCE!!!
