"Did I tell you I'm boycotting all holidays? All of them. I worked Christmas EveSo there it is. NO THANKSGIVING! This is the most important holiday injunction of all. While I may not boycott all the rest (I was very upset that day because I had worked and worked and worked during the holidays. So sad.), Thanksgiving is definitely on the chopping block. Remember how I said I might be going to Norfolk for Thanksgiving to hang with my college homie and the bf? Well my I hate Thanksgiving gene kicked in hard. I don't wanna go nowhere or do nothing! HMPH! So much so that I left my English lessons at home.
& Day and New Year's Eve and Day. The first holiday under my injunction
was Thanksgiving. I really do not get the big deal. It made me know that I
will NOT be cooking for a holiday ever again until there are at least 5
people to eat all that ish. I'm either ordering or going to someone's house. I
can't do it. I can't look at the left-overs and I don't like turkey."

Back in Charlotte, we'd go to one of my aunt's houses, then to the movies. My cousins would bring their boyfriends. We always had a great time and of course lots of good food. We would also house hop. My friend Laurie's mom made the best mac and cheese and broccoli rice casserole. Her turkey was never dry. Then she started getting fried turkey and everything was really, really good!
After those great memories, understand why Thanksgiving in Pittsburgh, or anywhere but Charlotte isn't really what I want to do? I know I'm being bratty, but I really don't care. Hahahaha. The moral of this story? Thanksgiving... BAH!

sweet... see? bah!!
I feel you... I actually am not working (to my knowledge_, but I got uninvited to someone's Thanksgiving dinner, so.... guess it's just me and my dog :)
i'll either be at work or with homeless people. my mom cooks and there's too much for so little people. i dont pay the whole thing mind now that i dont have my gigantic fam to eat with.
Girl, all that food talk made me hungry, oh so hungry, lol.
Looks like I'm in the minority here, but I'll be going home for Thanksgiving.
i will not be seeing my family at all this thanksgiving, and since thanksgiving is not a holiday here anyway it will be a day just like all the rest. sad times
so i definitely feel u, except for me it is more like thanksgiving...sniff
What will help you is creating your own traditions. Once you do that, the holidays will become easier.
x... uninvited?! wth??? how does that happen?
joy... such a nice idea.
dream... i know right! lolol
jarrod... boooooooo. lol. have fun.
leela... see?! you feel me. thankgiving... bah!!
epsi... i'm not 30 and i'm not newly married or starting a family. isn't it a bit early to decide traditions i'll likely have to break anyway? if i do, this will be my thing, to spend tgiving w/diff. folk every year.
"so much that i left my english lessons at home"
jameil, you're an asshole!! a funny one nonetheless =)
why is it that the older i get, the more people i know who HATE thanksgiving?!?!?! NOOOOOO! eat and be merry!!!
When you are in journalism, you almost give up on the notion of having holidays off. That's until you reach HOLLYWOOD status and you can tell the "man" buzz off.
the thanksgivings i have either spent on the road or with my friends are (perhaps sadly) more memorable that those with my family.
stace... hahahahaha. eat drink and be merry? yeah right. says the one who hangs out w/the fam on holidays. i don't have to.
sp... i'm well aware of that. my issue is more abt not being around any family or friends all times of the year which is compounded on the holidays.
ace.. thanks! that's actually encouraging! :D
J, you can most certainly not be feelin holidays without the loved ones as long as you adopt the attitude of gratitude, which allows you to be thankful for the good things which are part of your life.
Bah Humbug hunh? LOL...ur right, there is no TRUE big deal about thanksgiving, but as someone said above me in this comment section, make teh holiday new for yourself. That way you will beging to enjoy it fo ryour own reasons, not what some white peopel told you to enjoy it for ;-P
cnel... LMAO!! soundin like your quotes... uh... thanks i guess.
madam... that's right!! b/c my native american people were oppressed by my white ancestors so why would i celebrate it the way i've been told?! lol. you're hilarious.
