The Illustrious Trip.. Parte Deux!

So... in case you haven't been to my blog in months or years, or even days, the bf came. this is part ii of the illustrious trip. If you haven't been paying attention, catch up: Part I.

When we left off, I was getting ready for the club, wearing pink shirt w/a low back and a halter, drape neck front, cuffed denim, brown faux snakeskin peep toe stiletto heel w/gold chain detailing right? We hop in the whip and head to station square. Now he was requesting a "black club" but there aren't really any of those here. It's always more like black night. And I hate the local radio station parties. Know why? Because you're always in there w/the seedy underbelly of the city. The wack part. Not the cool drug dealers. Joking guys. Lolol. The stuff will be really lame. Not like I've ever been anywhere in Pittsburgh club or party-wise that I was terribly impressed with but that's neither here nor there.

It was either the Strip District (no there are no strip clubs in the strip district. not that i know of anyway), which I had already driven him through, or Station Square. So we headed to Matrix. There's a top 40 room, a reggaton room (for that night), a techno room and an 80s room. PEOPLE!! No knowledge of personal space. I mean, i know we're in a club and all but black people work not to step on your feet and keep walking; not to drop a cup full of ice on the floor; not to step on your open toed stilettos w/extremely ugly black stilettos. I think I would've been happier if at least she had cute shoes. So we had an ok time. I was ready to go pretty soon after we got there b/c I was sleeeepy.

Sunday:
I wake up at 8. I was very proud. That's sleeping in for me now. We went to Cracker Barrel again. Best grits at a place in the north. Thank GOD! I love grits. Yummmmm. After Cracker Barrel, we went to the Mall at Robinson. Walked around, learned about diamonds. The 4 C's (clarity, cut, carat weight, color) and all that. **sidenote: i'm watching run's house right now... one word. lam.bour.ghini!!!!!! gimme now!! mmmmmmm**

We rode around trying to find something to do to kill time before my fellow Hamptonian's parents' cook-out. We rode around downtown and considered going to the regatta. But by the time we got over there, it looked like it was over. So sad. So we head back to my dad's to get directions to the cook-out. I showed him my myspace page and we looked up a few people. Then we bond some more and figure out what we're going to do about being so far away from each other and our future.

We head to the cook-out. Did I neglect to tell you what I was wearing? Black bubble skirt, black chiffon tank w/blue and green flowers on it and a lime green trim, silver flat sandals. She'd told me her parents were having a big backyard barbeque. We pull up and have to park two blocks away because there are so many cars. we walk up to the beautiful house. I didn't know there would be a live jazz band poolside, a dj, and a huge spread of food and most of the liquors you would ever want to taste. Too bad I had to drive. The band was fabulous. Really more of a three-piece combo. Keyboard, alto saxophone, fabulous singer. Smooth, silky voice. Toni pulled up a poolside table for the two of us (me and the bf). It was great. We had to leave early because I had to take the bf to the airport.

I drop him off and we talk about when/where we'll see each other next. I pull off. About 10 minutes later I get a phone call telling me to come back?? His flight was cancelled. WHOO HOO!!! ANOTHER NIGHT TOGETHER!! :) The airline put us up at the Airport Hyatt in a $200/night room. It was beeeeeeeeeyoutiful! We went to the hotel restaurant for dinner. He had the shrimp arrabiatta with a tomato concasse. I had the chicken saltimboca with cheesy polenta and steamed green beans. It was parfait!! So delicious. The room also had on demand and fabulous cable. We tried to stay up all night to watch but fell asleep at about midnight.

Monday: Woke up around 7. Went to the airport for breakfast at this cafe in there. I wanted to go to Au Bon Pain, but he needs actual breakfast options like pancakes. Wow... get it picky. Breakfast was ok. Went back to the room to watch some more tv, chill, relax. I took a nap. We got my car. I dropped him off and left. It was a great trip. I can't wait for the next one! :)

Cracker Barrel is my ALL TIME favorite breakfast place. Not ihop, not Denny's, not even Tommy's (for yall Hamptonians out there who can feelme on the $3.99 breakfast platter).... not even when that lady lied and said that she found a mouse head in her soup did I stop going to Cracker Barrel! That bitch was trying to deprive me of my biscuits and apple butter! But at any rate, it sounds like you had a fabulous time with the bf. I wish I had one to share such a wonderful weekend with, but alas... I'm holdin it down in NJ alone :( BTW - those shoes... need a picture, ASAP!

OK why are we learning about diamonds? We getting one in the near future?? hmmmmmmmmmmm

CNEL said...

HaHa leave it you to say toe stomping can be redeemed if the girl is wearing cute shoes.

I'm wit ladynay I was expecting more when I saw it written that you learned about diamonds. I was like let me find out Dad's humming had an immediate impact.

"Then we bond some more and figure out what we're going to do about being so far away from each other and our future."

Whew ya'll do some heavy hitting, unafraid, and unabashedly about that future. Kudos for that.

I will steal your word and say your story was just pure d "beeeeeeeeeyoutiful!".

So happy that a good time was had by all.

shani, dream... :) i'm still basking in the glow of that weekend.

epsi... right?! it was great! and i was even more glad i didn't have to work the next day.

x... ahhh yeah! the fam used to stop there every time we went on a trip anywhere in the country. lmao @tryin to deprive you of your biscuits and apple butter!! that's hilarious!!

lady and cnel... chill out young whipper snappers. why y'all gotta be jumpin to conclusions. can't tell black folk nothin. one day i said something abt good diamonds and he had no clue what i was talking about. so he wanted to learn. we went to the jewelery store in the mall so he could learn.

also cnel, not toe stomping, but i mean it really isn't as bad. we know each other well enough that we don't have to be scared of talking about the future. we've only officially been together 7 mos. (today), but we've been friends for 5 years, known each other for 6. if we can't talk abt serious issues now, we probably never will.

A poolside band? What neighborhood were you in? Dang! Get it, black folk!

...and don't be in denial about the diamonds, honey. Come on, now...

Yay! Sounds like a good time. And I'mma need ya'll to recognize the crack that is Tommy's (in Hampton). Cracker Barrel is good, but you can't beat $3.99 banging pancakes with a bat. Ahh, what I wouldn't give for Tommys (shoot, even a cracker barrel) now... *sigh*

My absolutely favorite thing about this 2-parter...and trust me, I couldnt get enough of it, from setting, to wardrobe, to dialogue...is that amidst the meticulous details, you managed to skirt around the shit I'm sure everyone REALLY wants to know!

How did you feel about the convo about moving closer together?
What was the post-visit recap from dear ole Dad?
What the hell was this whole diamond tutorial all about?
And as much as I'd like to believe y'all rabbits turned it on in early every night, I'll respect your privacy. lol

And did you bring him by your job to shut up that loser who was trying to claim you? :)

duck... churchill. and i was thinking the same thing. "go black folk, go black folk." that house was BANGIN! i need a married man to weigh in on the diamond thing. it wasn't like i was tryin anything on.

sarcasstik... show did!

tdot... girl!!!! i love me some tommys! ain't no reason for that! can't no lil diner touch them.

leggs.. thanks! i guess all that writing at work everyday is starting to kick in wardrobe description-wise.

miss a... au bon pain, never been. but it sounds right up my alley. i know i want some pain au chocolat. do they have those?? that's my fave french food and i'm not even a chocalate ho like that. the hashbrown casserole keeps me coming back. girl... there ain't no reason for the deliciousness that is that casserole. i'm gettin all watery-mouthed just thinkin abt it. damn!!! damn dammmmm!!!

karamale.. we were both being adventurous and were well rewarded. both of us didn't know what the hell we were eating either. actually i knew what we were eating, just not what it would taste like.

ash... :) i still love that you said i was glowing w/him. that is so special.

stace... go back to your own blog with all that gutter talk. miss liberated on the net and closeted in person... OOOOOOOOOH! you got told son.

honey.. and w/ugly shoes!! she apologized but that didn't stop my toe from throbbing. heffa. learn to walk. and that cook-out was the bomb! we were totally like we need to do it like this when we grow up! lol

wise... hahahahahaha. so wise as usual. i will post again answering those questions. i didn't know what people would want to know all the way. but i did get the sense something was missing.

Rell said...

wow I hadn't been in a minute and just read both parts.

Let me say Cracker Bell (like epsilonicus said) is the bomb.

Long distance relationships, not a big fan of.

D. Sands said...

Do you know how long I have been waiting to go to Cracker Barrel?

jameil1922 said...

rell... i'm amazed at all the black folk who like that place. i mean you know cuz of the name and all. you know how we like to get all up in arms over a name! lmao! i you know i noticed love don't live here anymore!!

LDRs are impossible w/o trust. i would not recommend them for people who don't know ea. other well and haven't est. the trust. it will never work. they're hard enough without that.

sands... hahahahaha!! there's only one here and its like 35 mins away. i can't really bring myself to drive that far for breakfast when i know how to cook. by the time i do all that travelin i could've convinced my dad to cook.
